Motorola today announced the E895, the first phone to feature the manufacturer's new Java- and Linux-based OS and user interface. The next-generation OS is designed to be more powerful and easier to use than current smartphones. The E895 is a triband GSM clamshell phone with EDGE. It features a 1.3 MP camera with LED flash and video recording, QVGA display, a TransFlash slot, mp3 playback and Bluetooth- including support for stereo audio profile. It also features a full HTML browser and MotoSync Exchange ActiveSync as part of the new OS. The E895 is due out in Q4 2005.

Nothing against people in other countries but i am so sick and tired of the USA being the very last people to get the phones. Thats if we ever get most of the phones that even exist. Anyways Motorola is using virtually the same design over and over ...

Looks interesting

My contract is up with cingular and I have been trying to decided between going with Verizon and the E815, or upgradiung my plan and going with the sony ericsson s710a.

I really like the design of the E815 and want a flip phone but I hate that verizon was the only carrier of the handset and that they cripple thier blue tooth devices. Most of my family is with cingular so I loose mobile to mobile with this option.

I like the certain features about the S710 but I do not like the bulky design. It is uncomfortable to carry in your pocket and the holster makes me worried the phone won't stay in place. Also their is no screen protection as the phone is not a flip phone. It does have a better camera than the E815/V710 line of phones and...

Have you actually held the S710 in your hand? I have one, as well as the Nokia 6620 and the S710 is not bulky. Plus I have found a good case fore it online..

more information coming

hello scoopers, i'm here at javaone waiting to get some quality with the e895, however i have already been able to give it a quick run-thru. here's what i can tell you already:
1. the screen is amazing. it's incredibly sharp and bright. it's not much bigger than a razr screen but it's qvga.
2. the phone is much thinner than you'd expect. not razr thin, but it seems thinner than a v600 / v55x model.
3. it's handsome. moto finally are producing phones you'd be proud to carry.
4. the os is MAJORLY revamped. it's not just the same old moto magic os running on linux, ot a new verison of the old linux OS. motorola has honestly taken alot of steps to improved usability and clarity over what you see on current v-series phones.

we'll have det...
