Third Parties Bring Blackberry Closer To Smartphones

RIM's Blackberry platform today was boosted by two partnership announcements. Blackberry users can download a version of Google Local Mobile optimized for their devices today. The software offers the same mapping, business search and directions as versions for other platforms. Google also announced it will soon launch a Google Talk application for Blackberry users. RIM also announced it has licensed PocketMac for the Blackberry and will offer the synchronization application free to all Mac users. PocketMac syncs contacts, appointments and more from many popular OS X applications to the device. Many other smartphone platforms offer Mac sync and Google Local already.
