Cingular Now Offers PTT By The Minute
Jan 31, 2007, 1:51 PM by (staff)
Cingular today announced a new pricing structure that will allow subscribers to try Push To Talk (PTT) without having to commit to a month-long unlimited plan. Customers can instead for PTT calls on a per-minute rate of 15 cents. Because PTT sessions don't usually require users to press the end key to stop a call, Cingular will round calls up to 30 seconds if users don't do anything to end it. Users will still need to call or visit Cingular to have their PTT activated on their handset before they can use per-minute or unlimited plans. PTT is currently available on 9 Cingular models and the carrier plans to release additional PTT phones throughout the year. Other carriers that offer pay per use PTT typically charge a small fee for a day of use instead of a per minute charge.

Cingular PTT is AWESOME!!... as far as PTT goes...
Pros
*The ability to connect with up to 20 PTT contacts at once.
*Being able to see who's available before attempting a PTT call.
*Being able to manage who is able to contact you via PTT and who can't.
*You can use PTT on speaker, in "quiet mode, or via Bluetooth.
*Minimal latency on the initial connection, and virtually none thereafter.
*Versatile PTT phones. No one can touch Cingular's PTT handset line up.
Cons
*The only thing keeping Cingular PTT from becoming the standard in the PTT market, it the lack of "durable" handsets.

Correct me if I'm wrong - I've never used Cingular's PTT service (never will use Cingular either) and am going off what I've heard and read.
I wouldn't use a PTT product though...no matter how good it was.
