Verizon to Launch Mobile TV Service March 1

According to a coverage map on its Web site, Verizon Wireless will launch its V CAST Mobile TV service in select markets beginning March 1. However the coverage map does not show any VCAST TV availability anywhere in the nation, nor is further information available from Verizon. The carrier had previously announced its V CAST Mobile TV service, with content provided by Fox, MTV, NBC and others, would be available before the end of the first quarter. If the date on the map is accurate, a March 1 launch will beat that by a full month. The service will initially be available on just two handsets, the LG VX9400 and Samsung SCH-U620. Neither is yet available on Verizon's site. AT&T announced it will launch a mobile TV service based on MediaFLO's technology later this year and T-Mobile and Alltel are trialling the technology.

this makes me kinda upset

verizon likes to take sprints glory and run with it. phones, coverage and now products. im not saying verizon sucks cause im not saying that. its when sprint has something and they dont take advantage of advertising and verizon does. but heres what bothers me. sprint is exclusive to 24 and now verizon has it? what the hell is up with that. if they get to show 24 live or the whole show on thier phones i will be ticked

I don't see any coverage anywhere

I've been hopping around a lot of major cities and selecting the VCast TV coverage area and have yet to see any coverage. Perhaps they haven't finished updating their maps?

I think we should wait until March 1st.
after thoroughly searching for coverage from coast to coast i couldn't find a thing. we have updated the story to reflect this.
...

Scans of coverage area brochure posted to engadget mobile

They have scans of the VCast TV brochure, complete with coverage maps. Lists also "future cities" that will have coverage sometime later on.

Sort of interesting that your minor-league cities like Jacksonville, Wichita, Spokane and Omaha will all have the service at launch, while your major league areas like Boston, Philly, DC/Baltimore, Chicago, Phoenix, Houston, and San Francisco are not even mentioned in future coverage.
Where do you see them?
