LG today announced:
- VX-8700: The 8700 is a new addition to LG's Shine family of phones, and the first one for the US. This mid-range clamshell has EV-DO for data and a 2 megapixel camera. The 8700 supports stereo Bluetooth and a microSD slot for storing media. The exterior casing is metal, and has a brushed aluminum appearance. The exterior display is a narrow vertical strip that blends in with the metal casing until activated.
- LX-570:
The 570 is a music centric phone with a design similar to the Fusic that has a touch-sensitive, exterior music controller D-pad. It is a clamshell with an integrated antenna that also features EV-DO data support, a 1.3 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth and an FM transmitter and radio. The music player plays most formats and has a microSD slot for storage.

What happened to the slider?
From what I'm gathering, a large portion of people liked the slider better. Then again a lot of people didn't want to get the screen filthy and a flip would be better for that.
Regardless, what happened to the mirrored screens like the Shine had? I think that that's something everyone was looking forward to on this model and it didn't deliver.
LG has had TONS of issues with the 8500 Chocolate! More like Chocolate poo! Failed effort there, too many people whose pants began making calls.
Finally! J/k
I am liking that 8700 more and more. I don't care for the tiny external screen (I have the VX8100 now and I like being able to read my text messages from the front screen) but I think I could get used to it. 🤤 🤤 🤤
The VX 8700 looks amazing. It is an exciting day for CDMA that is for between this and Motorola's announcement.
The question now is, when will we see this phone on VZW?
Still rather see the slider rather than the flip.

this is the replacement to the fusic 🤤
from what i hear, this will actually be codenamed the fusic 2
Yep, and it doesn't look girly for a change. It seems like they traded the FM transmitter for an FM Radio this time around, though.
looks good...and there was nothing Girly about the fusic. Anyone heard a release datE?
Sprint customers have been about to text while roaming for a couple of years now... please update your firmware so the phone doesn't tell me, "Text messaging not available while roaming." Also... Sprint also data roams too! Don't forget that!
If the speakerphone works well, the vx8700 is perfect...
..for what it is intended to be. It's not a music phone, it's not supposed to have a 3 or 4 or 5 megapixel camera, it's not a smart phone, it's not a budget phone. It's a thin fashion phone. That's it. But as sure as I'm sitting here people are going to gripe that the camera isn't 3MP or more, or that it's not better for texting, or that you should be able to do spreadsheets on it or whatever. Buy a phone with the features you want, and if the features don't work properly, then complain. But don't buy a Miata then complain you can't go off-roading with it.
Hopefully, you can use the speaker with the phone closed!
LX-570 looks like a Chocolate
Yes it does.

Are there any pictures you can get of the VX8700 with the front "blended in". Thanks!
