Apple Updates iPhone Specs

Apple has announced the iPhone will have longer battery than initially expected, with talk time increased to 8 hours and media playback times enhanced as well. The company also announced the front surface has been upgraded to a durable, scratch-proof glass, similar to what Motorola uses on several of its flagship phones. Today Apple announced the phone will launch with a new YouTube application as well, furthering its ties to Google. Over 10,000 videos will be available in H.264 format for playback on the iPhone (as well as Apple TV) at launch, and Apple claims every YouTube video will be available from the application by year's end.

YouTube is nice and all, but I still think releasing a $600 cell phone with Edge is a little silly.
What choice did they have? ATT/Cingular's 3G coverage is still not good. âšī¸

i think we're all losing sight of who this phone is really for. it's not for those of us who want the latest and greatest of every feature.
when does iphone get its own phonescoop page????
Apple: "Let someone get a phone early so they can review it? What kind of idiocy is that?"

Tests done on 1900 Mhz Band
Talk Time: Testing conducted by Apple in May and June 2007 using preproduction iPhones and software. All talk time testing was done connected to a 1900MHz network. All settings were default except: Call Forwarding was turned on; the WiFi feature Ask to Join Networks was turned off. Battery life depends on the cellular network, location, signal strength, feature configuration, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPhone units; actual results may vary.
