Today, Motorola announced that most U.S. wireless operators will begin selling the Motorola RAZR2 in the coming weeks. Alltel, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon Wireless will all carry versions of the device, which was originally debuted by Motorola in May. Sprint and Verizon Wireless will both be selling the V9m variant for $250 and $300, respectively. It will be available from Sprint's online store beginning August 22, and in Sprint retail stores by September 4. Verizon has not given a firm availability date yet, but said it will be sometime in September. The other U.S. carriers have yet to announce specific pricing and availability, but all plan to offer the device in the near future.

Sprint RAZR2

Anybody here really want the RAZR2 V9m from Sprint? Because I really do. But what is the difference between getting it from Verizon and getting it from SPrint or Alltel?

Price for Sprint

So any have any idea if the $250 price is before or even after rebates?
What I read said its just the price for new customers, no rebates.

Verizon, why bother?!

It is always stupid when Verizon offers phones like this.

RAZR 2
1. Full HTML web browser; Which Verizon will disable.
2. POP Email access; Which Verizon will disable. Unless you spend more.
3. Linux-Java; Which Verizon will disable.
4. Full media player; which Verizon limits to their own content.
5. 500+MHz processor; which Verizon will never let you access the content that would make this type of processor worth it.

What is the point?! Verizon offers great phones, with every great featured locked out. I get so sick of Verizon getting cool phones that no other carrier can offer.

At least this phone is coming to Sprint. Not to mention Cingular and T-Mobile. So this time those of us who want full access to content will get to u...

RAZR2 Hands-on Impressions

So I came across the chance to play around with the RAZR2 yesterday for about two hours (thanks to my Dad), and I must say, I was quite impressed. The first thing I noticed about the phone was how glistening and shiny it was, the same basic coat as the upcoming MOTORKR V6m, it basically reflected off everything. Also the screen was huge, and vibrant and the touch screen controls was a nice little addition.

The one thing I noticed that the Phonescoop review stated was the spring that when you closed it shocked the phone and made it reverberate. This in fact was not the case as it closed with a silky smooth feeling. The size was a little suprising, because the phone was actually bigger than what I expected. It kinda reminded me of a really...

3 hundy?

😲 😲 😲 seems a little pricey to me 😲 😲 😲
😡 👿 thats too pricey for a moto
...
C'mon, it's the Moto RAZR2! That means it will be the RAZR again! Big budget sequels are always worth the money, right? 🙄

Besides, when has motorola ever overhyped a product that isn't worth what they charge for it? 😉
...
New Motorolas are always really spendy when they first come out then the price drops dramatically after a month or two.

What...are we on an episode of MTV Cribs?

Geeze.

That's actually not too bad of a price at all.
Thats probably retail. Thats about the same price as the krzr

sprint #1

so when wimax rolls out, will sprint be #1?
sorry wrong forum!
It is set to start rolling out later this year. Not too much is know yet. There is some talk if the WiMax was to work very well, that Sprint may switch from CDMA to a complete WiMax network within the next 5 to 10 years. But I don't think that is true...

Crippled???

Does anyone know if vzw has kept the "see what I see" video calling feature on the v9m? Also will the phone have the same flashing blue light bars on the front as on the Maxx ve?
Video sharing was never a feature of the V9m, only the V9, which is a different phone.

No, the RAZR2s do not have the glowing blue stripes of the maxx series.

The Verizon version will be locked out. Most of the cool features will not work, seeing as Verizon using BREW, not Java.

As a Verizon dealer..

I have to say this is terrible. Man I'm going to hate taking these phones back by the boatload.
you're a tool 🙄
I'll get one or two of these thing in so I can more effectively part fools from their money.

Really, I don't get why it's going to cost 300. Or what you're getting for that.

Finally a decent phone with no exclusive

Personally i'm tired of major carriers having exclusives on the "hot-new phones". i hope this method of motorola releasing a phone across multiple carriers at approximately the same time continues. For the record, i dont plan on getting the phone, but i hope other cell phone manufacturer's follow the same route.
Good observation
Yeah, I agree!!! I noticed that right away.
With reguards to the handset itself, no, I don't intend on getting it, but it does have a very, very impressive feature set though, you gotta admit that!

Personally, I've never used the RAZR for a phone...

Will the GSM/HSDPA version succeed?

Appearently, Motorola's newer phones have yet to still surpass the popularity of the original RAZR. Almost all GSM carriers still carry the original RAZR. The V3i, on the other hand, was not very popular, and is no longer carried by AT&T or Dobson. The KRZR K1 also failed to meet the popularity of the original RAZR, and has been discontinued by Dobson. AT&T still carries the KRZR and the RAZR V3xx.

My question is:
Could the RAZR2 meet the popularity that the original RAZR did, at least for the GSM and HSDPA versions? I don't think that AT&T will be carrying the RAZR2 V8 as it is not 3G. The V8 may be carried by T-Mobile and SunCom, while AT&T will go for the V9.

The v3xx variant has done pretty well for itself. It's still selling strong and is one of the most popular handsets in AT&T's current lineup.

Why would you...

300 dollars after rebate?!!

You can buy a stinkin iphone for 500 and get WAYYY more out of a phone!

Why hasn't Motorola caught on to this whole number two spot rank... OBVIOUSLY they are overpricing their phones with very little demand for them.

I'm sure alot of people like this RAZR design enough to forget about THE gazillion other phones that are slimmer and lighter and with more features. "Oh please sign me up with another two year contract, with the same lookin phone I've had the past five years.. where the likelyhood of my phone snapping in half is of course close to impossible... only $300, pocket change.."
just what untill the holiday, spring will drop down to 199.99 and vzw will be like 299.99,lol, more like 249.99

I plan on getting this phone once the price drops. I love my razor (I have the origina razor v3) but I have been wanting a new phone and now that a new razor is out and a better one, im happpy.

HA!!

Sprint is slated to start selling theirs August 30th (plus it will be cheaper after MIR) lol
So how is VZW the first U.S. Carrier when Sprint's goes on sale August 30th at direct stores and Sprint.com, and indirects receive the phone September 5th.
...
Ehh, whatever. I'm a Verizon subscriber and could less about a new RAZR2. It looks like it's going to have an ugly red and black bars GUI like most Verizon phones. Other features become irrelevant at this point. So unless something changes between now...

Who Cares?

seriously type in Motorola Razr and see how many different versions there are... do we really need another one?
Yes. This is a much different looking and full featured RAZR. Very simple. It's hugely popular and has been good for Moto. Why mess with a good thing? No reason to. Also, no one is going to force you to buy one.
SkillciaX said:

Moto says "yes".
I am with Skill on this one. I mean I am happy for the Moto Razr fan boys, they get a new phone to beat their chests over.

But seriously, there isn't really anything groundbreaking. Personally, the Razor Maxx is the only one I am remotely impresse...
