T-Mobile Shows Off Two New Sidekicks

Today T-Mobile is announcing the Sidekick LX and the Sidekick Slide. Both have quad-band GSM/EDGE radios, Bluetooth and support for up to 4GB in the microSD slots. They also both share 1.3 Megapixel cameras, the standard Sidekick communications software as well as the new mobile MySpace application.
- LX: The LX, made by Sharp, is a slimmed down update to the Sidekick 3. It features a 3-inch WQVGA display that is thinner than the SK3's and has an improved swivel joint. There are a set of lights placed around the edge of the LX that can be set to different colors to indicate different types of messages. It comes with a 128MB microSD card and its camera has a flash. It will be available to existing T-Mobile customers on October 17th, and new customers October 24th. It will cost $299 with 2-year agreement.
- Slide: Made by Motorola, the Slide is a smaller version of the Sidekick LX. Rather than swivel around, its 2-inch QVGA screen slides straight up to reveal the QWERTY keyboard underneath. Its camera does not have a flash. It will be available November 7th for $199 with 2-year agreement.

When will AT&T get on board
Too me it makes no sense for Motorola to release a Sidekick copy for T-Mobile, when they could of brought something like that to AT&T. I sale for the company, and usually their attempt at selling a SMS device somewhat like the sidekick has failed.
I get customers coming in all the time looking for something like this for their teens, and it seems retarded to sell them a blackberry.

Does anyone know if TMO will dumb this Sidekick down or will they allow all the features this time? And would I beable to use my java programs I have for my other cells?

phonescoop was wrong..at least with my t-mobile store...my store doesn't offer any kind of early oct 17th trade in upgrade..they said strictly the 24th..also this is the sidekick 4 people...get over it. It is worth 500 dollars...but people saying it finally has flash...well my sk3 has a flash...just is terrible...

Well...if you check your internal systems, you would see that only like 6 stores nationwide are doing it on the 17th, and I believe customer care will upgrade, but GENERAL release is the 24th, i.e. when all the stores get it.

Why waste your money?
Helio Ocean clobbers the snot outta both these things. Also costs $300 but the Ocean gives you:
GPS enabled Google Maps
3G with full HTMP web browsing
2MP Cam
Seriously, price being equal with the LX, why the hell would someone NOT get an Ocean over one of these toys you call "sidekicks"?

Not every has or wants Helio. Some people prefer GSM.

Whats the whole point of releasing these device without hardly any upgrades. This is not much better than the sidekick 3.

Well both the LX and the Slide have MMS capabilities...finally! 😁 The SK LX has a flash so hopefully this device will take much better pix...and as mentioned above the screen resolution is much much better than prev SKs.

No, really, who here cares about a new Sidekick if it's not the 4? These are cheezy and uninspired. The slide is purple? Are they serious? Wow. And today, they started offering reservation cards 😕
I do like that the screen will be clear, seeing as how the screen on past SKs have been less then garbage. But besides that, how about ONE SK now, and two 4s? Doesn't that sound better?

The LX is the Sidekick 4. About the one sidekick now and two 4s later is basically what they did (sidekick iD now, LX and Slide later)

only 1.3mp? C'mon these are great phones, thats the only bad part about them. Moto should have been able to pull a 2mp from the parts bin. Oh well.

There is nothing wrong with the sidekick. It is just for tweens, chicks, expectant mothers, dudes looking to impress their very young counterparts, and basketball players.
I have a few male friends of a questionable orientation, THEY ALL HAVE SIDEKICKS.
