A Sprint preview web site recently revealed the LG Rumor, the carrier's return to messaging phones after a year-long hiatus. The Rumor looks like a bar-style phone with a 176 x 220 screen and numeric keypad, however a second QWERTY keypad slides out from the side. The Rumor is not a smartphone, but a mid-range feature phone with Bluetooth, 1.3 Megapixel camera and MicroSD slot. It will be available in black or white for $80 with a two-year contract.

Year-Long Hiatus???
Can someone help me out here? Maybe I'm just drawing a blank, but I can't think of ANY other "messaging phone" Sprint has ever carried...
I thought they were referring to LG's messaging phones... But I thought their latest Verizon one came out sooner than a year ago...?
Not bad
80$ for a messaging phone? thats good compared to the expensive sidekicks and enVs out there. Lets hope this could at least be close to those beasts. Sprint might have themselves a winner
But compared to the EnV the Rumor is not EVDO, no music player, no card slot, etc. It is strictly a messaging phone. I would like to see a high end version of this some down the line.
The Env is 79.99 at circuit city corp kiosk just in case you didn't know
OMG!!!!! You guys are really critical....Its a phone and I can't wait to get. As long as it talks and texts, that's all I want. I been waiting on this phone for a long time. I'm getting excited. I wonder how much it will be with my upgrade, I'm sure i...

I agree...$80 is pretty good. Im switching back to Sprint at the end of the year and I may go with this device. It looks like it will be much easier to text with this device. The keyboard on the Centro is way too small.
LG... WHAT THE HELL?
#1. In this day and age, why the hell would you not put EV-DO in this phone? The cost in chip sets is negligible.
#2. Are you absolutely dead set against QVGA displays? There has not been single QVGA LG on Sprint... EVER. Do they even use QVGA screens with their bread and butter (Verizon)?

Looks Like...
The LG 9100 and F9200 from Cingular. Not impressed.
Me either, but Sprint does need a messaging phone or two.
Dear Sprint: it's going to take more than one (especially LG) phone to beat out Verizon's messaging phones. Maybe an HTC smartphone with CDMA?
damn you called, and those phones SUCKED.
