U.S. Cellular Adds Unlimited Option

Mirroring moves made in the competitive wireless landscape this week, U.S. Cellular today announced a new $99 unlimited national calling plan for new and existing customers. U.S. Cellular will also offer subscribers unlimited text messaging plans for an additional $15, and unlimited data for another $10. U.S. Cellular said that its unlimited plans will only be available for a limited time. More specific details will be available on the U.S. Cellular web site and in retail stores in the coming days.

Verizon has made a handful of changes to its unlimited plans, giving some customers a better value. The basic structure and pricing remain unchanged, but some plans now come with more data.

Google Fi — Google's own MVNO offering cellular service — has adjusted its two unlimited plans to offer more data and features for less money. Google's cheaper Simply Unlimited plan now runs $50/month for one line, down from $60 previously.

Apple Announces Upcoming Accessibility Features

For Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Apple is announcing several new accessibility features coming to iOS "later this year", possibly in iOS 16. A new feature called Door Detection uses the camera and LiDAR sensor in higher-end iPhones and iPads to help blind or low vision users "locate a door upon arriving at a new destination, understand how far they are from it, and describe door attributes — including if it is open or closed, and when it’s closed, whether it can be opened by pushing, turning a knob, or pulling a handle."

Comcast Launches "Now" Prepaid Mobile

Comcast is launching "Now Mobile", a new prepaid mobile phone service to compliment its existing Xfinity Mobile postpaid service. Like Xfinity Mobile, Now Mobile is only available to customers of Comcast home internet service (either Xfinity Internet or the new Now Internet).

Apple's Move To iOS Tool Now Moves WhatsApp Messages

WhatsApp now supports Apple's "Move to iOS" system, making it easy for users to switch from an Android phone to an iPhone without losing their WhatsApp chat histories. Move to iOS consists of an Android app that users can download from Google's Play Store.

😉 i dont have uscc right now but im from chicago and they have good service. i hope its not a limited time only deal because that would be down right foolish of them to retract that offer. they should just do away with the "limited time" part because it makes them seem more selfish than the big 4. also uscc should follow Tmobile's path because Tmobile is the only carrier that is currently offering INCLUDED unlimited text and picture messaging with their $99 unlimited plan. everyone else is charging. to be honest i still think $99 for one line is insanely high. what if you have a spouse or a sibling who is on your plan and they have to be stuck with a minute plan or you guys pay over $200 or more not to mention taxes and surcharges and ...
