Speaking to investors yesterday, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse made comments on the company's WiMax business. He noted that the trials in Chicago and Baltimore-Washington, D.C., are going well and that Sprint will roll out dual-mode CDMA/WiMax handsets later this year. Until now, Sprint had only confirmed that "consumer electronics devices" would have WiMax on board. Hesse went on to say that he doesn't think Sprint can pass up the opportunity to be the first carrier to deploy a 4G broadband network. Sprint is still in discussions with Clearwire to see if a partnership is the best option moving forward.

Yet...
U.S. Cellular is yet to deploy a 3G network sad...sad 🤣 🤣 🤣
You don't even know what 3G means buddy! US Cellular has had a 3G network for several years now! It's at 1X speed the same speed Sprint's was when they launched their 3G network in 2002. They don't have EVDO (broadband) yet but neither did Sprint unti...

Lets look at FACTS
So from allllllll the independent tests run we can all say that dropped calls between carriers are around 1% of each other correct? So now w/ Sprint rolling out WIMAX which will essentially crush any other carriers data out there (even though Sprint does this now anyway) wouldnt this put Sprint as the best wireless provider to go to? 😉
What about Verizon?
Where is Verizon in all of this? If Sprint is getting 4g then why isnt Verizon getting it too I mean arent they just as resourceful as is Sprint?
I can understand ATT not getting WiMix because they are GSM. You would think Verizon would want it too if it is 4g.
Verizon and AT&T are going LTE. LTE in fact is the 4G technology for GSM/UMTS carriers. Verizon's selection of LTE was a surprise, as they chose the technology over UMB (the natural 4G path for CDMA carriers) and WiMAX.
Because Sprint is the leader in DATA and are more aggressive.
Is this the truth?
CEO can confirm or say anything in order to keep investors happy.
People like WiMax. The word has been marketed very well. Its too bad the technology is absolute garbage.
I think investors like hearing WiMax...but i cant wait until they *really* find out what it is so all this nonsense will end.
4G. What is it, and how does he know what it is?
4G Has yet to be defined. So Mr. Hesse is going to define it as Wimax. Why would 4g be defined as LTE or something like that? IT has still yet to be defined so this guy has got some guts to commonly refer to WIMAX as 4G.
Sonstar
Just curious, what would you refer to WIMAX as?
Sprint launched 3G handsets in 2002 but the speed was only 1X. In 2005 they launched EVDO which is broadband and a lot faster then the slower 1X speed. However they are BOTH considered "3G" based on what they're able to accomplish as opposed to what t...

Whats up with all the sprint haters here?!
Haha ... its so funny. Mobile quality is all subjective. In my case Southern Californa Sprint rocks! I get fast speed, clear calls, and rarely dropped calls. I can tether my phone to my laptop and get speeds fast as low tier DSL. All along while friends of mine can't even use their mobile phones in their homes because of bad reception. LOL. And others friends, to get near speeds that i get on their ATT phones have to be near downtown LA or downtown SD but once they leave the area thier data crawls to a halt... hilarious.
I don't care if wimax is 3.5g, 4g, no g.. whatever.. i don't care if its old tech or not based or a pure cellular tech/evolution.. who gives a crap... fact is it going to be fast and faster than anything on the marke...
