Verizon Wireless Joins LiMo Foundation

Verizon Wireless and the LiMo Foundation announced that the network operator has joined LiMo as a Core member, and has taken a seat at the foundation's board of directors. Verizon said that the move is meant to help foster the idea of openness and the rise of mobile Linux phone platforms. LiMo hopes to speed the development of its own LiMo Platform to market. Bringing in support from network operators is an important step in that process. The LiMo Foundation has 39 other members, including Verizon's business partner, Vodafone.

Linux on Verizon phones,WOW.

Who would have thunk this just a couple years ago?
Very true.

I'm curious how this will affect certain relationships between carriers and manufacturers long term. For example, Verizon is now a board member of the LiMo Foundation. So are Samsung, Motorla and LG. Will those phone manufacturers now...

Someone help me with this I'm not familiar with Linux at all. How could this help customers, other than giving them another choice of operating systems for their phone? I'm guessing there would be a whole new set of applications available. I just don'...

LiMo enabled cdma phones

So what is the current list of LiMo-enabled phones, and are any of them CDMA? I'd be anxious to get started working on one of these
