Verizon Commits to Improved PTT Service

Verizon Wireless has confirmed that it will be rolling out an improved push-to-talk offering later this summer to compete with Sprint's PTT services. Sprint recently launched QChat phones and services in several markets, including Colorado, Kansas, and Ohio. It will be expanding the availability of QChat over time. QChat permits standard CDMA-based phones to interact with iDEN phones and vice versa. Verizon will respond with the launch of new phones and an improved PTT service. It did not provide a time frame for the launch, nor did it say exactly what technology it will be using to improve it's PTT service and make it competitive with Sprint's QChat service.

Verizon PPT Dead For Years
Verizon showed 2 commercials promoting their PPT. Now after years of not promoting it at all, now they want to promote it? Why? As good as Verizon is at offering wireless, PPT is NOT something they have any power in. Both Sprint and Nextel offer several phones with PPT (Sprint-Sanyo. Nextel-Motorola). Having to buy 1 type of phone, with 1 type of accessory is why people choose Sprint and Nextel's PPT feature. Companies don't want a Verizon Samsung, Moto, and Nokia PPT. They want 1 phone brand.
Both AT&T and Verizon's PPT features have failed to impress anyone and that is why neither carrier is promoting them. So Verizon shouldn't even bother now. It is too little too late. Verizon CAN NOT COMPETE WITH QCHAT! So give it up....

The Facts About This...
The article that Phone Scoop shows doesn't say this but VZW's QCHAT will not interact with Sprint's QCHAT or Nextel's iDEN network. This means that VZW will have a VERY small amount of PTT users unless somehow they can strike a deal with Sprint, VERY UNLIKELY.
Sprint's QCHAT will be able to PTT Nextel users, which is where the overwhelming majority of PTT users are.

Bad for Sprint Good for Verizon
Hopefully sprint can stop their massive hemorrhaging and convince their customers to stay.
But I think sprint still lacks the necessary skills to implement a first class ad campaign.
Once Verizon releases their qhcat GzOne and a few other phones in the works, followed by a massive ad campaign it will be the end for sprints qchat.

Ummm I think those were the PDA in the presentation that was leaked, the Rev A PTT phones are the Motorola V750 and the G'Zone(Geez One)711 series.

Why will people switch from the carrier who dominated the market with PTT no one will leave Sprint once they flood the market with there new Qchat phone no they are no using the Iden nework but you can still PTT iden customers also Qchat was created exclusively for Nextel in exchange change acquired a CDMA network this have been in the making for years Qchat for Nextel do some research they would have rolled this out themselves but they didn't want to invest the money to upgrade from Iden to Qchat Sprint already had a CDMA nextel which is why they stepped in and brought nextel Qchat will also dominate the market the same way Nextel has and still is hands down
