Microsoft has completed work on a version of its Windows Live Messenger instant messaging program available for BlackBerries to download and use through the BlackBerry web site. IMs are sent and received using BlackBerry's push technology. With the software client, users can set availability, log chats, show a chat picture, use emoticons, and send certain files back and forth.

Why?
I remember when I used to sell the 'ol BB's and I'd always say IM is a great way to stay in touch with a secretary or someone while you are in a meeting, but I don't really know of any companies that us windows live messenger. Most use propitiatory IM clients that are locked to their VPNs.
I guess now at least everyone can talk from their blackberrys to their friends on their XBoxs.
proprietary, not propitiatory lol. 🙄
