Small Carriers Petition FCC to Shelve Verizon-Alltel Vote

A handful of rural network operators have sent a letter to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin urging him to delay any approval of Verizon Wireless's acquisition of Alltel. Some of the companies signing the letter include Leap Wireless and SouthernLINC, LCW Wireless, Revol Wireless and others. Several associations also participated in the letter, including National Telecommunications Cooperative Association and the Rural Telecommunications Group. The groups claim that there are unresolved roaming, spectrum concentration and handset exclusivity issues that need to be addressed before the merger should be approved.

But with these carriers asking the FCC to reconsider, it will be interesting to see what comes out of it.
Verizon's default UI does kinda suck, but lets...

I highly doubt anything stoping this merge.
and a lot of people are happy about it.
Verizon is not forcing ANY Alltel custmers to switch over to a Verizon plan or phone.
