InPlay Technologies has created a new product that will allow users of capacitive touch-screen devices to use a pen for input. Capacitive touch screens have been limited to just fingers for input, meaning actions such as handwriting recognition is difficult or impossible to implement. InPlay's WriteSense technology has an active RF digital pen that provides the precision, accuracy and speed of pen input, while also allowing users to fall back to their fingers for general input. WriteSense also entails changes to screen technology on devices such as tablet PCs, but InPlay expects to see the technology used in mobile phones, as well.
