Qualcomm Scoops Up Digital Fountain

Qualcomm has purchased Digital Fountain, a company that makes and distributes IPTV and mobile video technology. Digital Fountain was a small company, and Qualcomm will add Digital Fountain's mobile video assets to its own. Qualcomm said that "seven key engineers that will continue to support the technology and existing Digital Fountain customers. The team will be located in Qualcomm's Santa Clara campus." The sale price was not disclosed. Qualcomm's own mobile video technology, MediaFLO, is used by AT&T and Verizon Wireless to provide their mobile TV offerings.
