Updated: edited details of the plan. The $135 credit was a test for the SF market only, and is no longer being offered.
T-Mobile has extended a trial calling plan it initially tested in San Francisco to the entire U.S. Customers who've held T-Mobile contracts for 22 months or more may sign up for the $50 per month plan that provides for unlimited nationwide calling. The plan is meant to reward what T-Mobile considers to be its most loyal customers.

Work around the 22 month requirement
If anyone has advice on how someone who has been with T-Mobile for less than 22 months could get the plan by calling customer service, I would greatly appreciate it.
In other words, is it typical that T-Mobile is tough as nails on the requirements, or is there a way (possibly by asking nicely or saying you will leave to another carrier to get the plan you want) to talk your way into T-Mobile letting you into the plan, despite not being a fairly new customer?
This doesn't make sense!
After reading the memo sent to us about the specs on the Bill credit it says that existing customers that "PORT OVER" A number will receive a bill credit because they added a line.
The chances of someone having a line on another carrier after having T-Mobile for two years is very rare and to top it off after people that post over these threads stating that they didn't qualify for the promotion after being with T-Mobile for ever I am starting to feel like this is just marketing hype and not a true value to the customers that they have. As far as current customers are concerned making people wait for this $50 plan and then not offering it to them is going to create more churn then anything.
When I logged into my account this morning, it was available to me.
Someone stated "to top it off after people that post over these threads stating that they didn't qualify for the promotion after being with T-Mobile for ever I am starting to feel ...

ok i agree with the fact that we may lose a few new customers, but i also disagreee 😕 . think of it this way, when your two years of contract are up chances are you're gonna look elsewhere for cheaper offers. Well, things dont get any better or cheap...

not for new customers...
so, i'm porting over to tmo, and i see nothing on the site about getting the credit. after completing the transaction, order done i called to question this.
i was told what i had initially thought, that this credit is only if it's being ported into an existing acct. with the wording used in the phonescoop article, "T-Mobile is also offering a $135 credit for new customers who switch from another network operator." it misled me to believe any new cust would get that credit.
don't get me wrong, i want tmo (more so the G1) and i appreciate the fact they reward loyalty. i just wanted to point this out for others so any misunderstanding can be squashed.
One of the main reasons you should ALWAYS buy from the store. We actually know information here (depending on who you talk to).
What Market?
I tried to sign up today and they told me no... I have had tmobile since to days of Omnipoint...oh well I think I am switching to Verizon, I am sick of Tmobile
There are qualifications. Did you ask why or what would qualify you?
Question about the 22month thing...
Ok ,
I've been with T-Mobile since early 2007, but I have gotten new lines and canceled the older ones just so I can get a new phone cheaper. My current line has only been in service since Nov. 2008. Do I still qualify for the 22 months of contract in order for me to get the plan on my current line, and if I do will that extend my contract for another 2 years??? Thx in advance for the info given.
your best option is to call care and ask if you can
Nice!
$50 for individual and $89 for first 2-lines in a family plan. Only includes voice. Makes sense. What does everyone expect???? Data, multimedia, and everything else included with that? That is like asking McDonalds to put the ketchup on your fries. Now I can see Verizon, AT&T Mobility, and Sprint jumping in whenever with their versions. Churn anyone?????? 🙂
Actually Sprint already has this beat with the Boost pre-paid plans.
I can see churn happening because of this offer. They're gonna jump ship from T-mobile to Boost for a better plan and no contract.
Am i serious? No, but i have a bad feeling in my gut that tells me you are serious with your post.
As good
As they are they're not immune to the economic state.
Word from inside TMO, no pay raises this year.
You would think with the economic down turn those who thought it necessary to change carriers would flock to TMO. But I think Boost Mobile's $50 everything plan gave those people a reason to pause. 🤨
Everyone is suffering in some way. They cut back to save jobs which is better than we can say for other companies that can't keep their employees
$50 talk only
By the time you add the unlimited texting and web service you're at $85. Is that really a deal? Boost seems like the best deal hands down. Now if the other carriers follow suit and have $50 unlimited plans that would be awesome.
It's never good enough for people like you is it, lets see vzw or the others do this....as for boost...yea someone can offer paper cup & string calling unlimited for $40/month, doesn't mean i'd jump at it. nothing from sprint or affiliated with them w...

2 lines are only $89.99
you can get 2 lines of unlimited talk in a family plan, and additional lines are only 39.99, up to 5 lines total. However, the @home is not available for people who swich to this plan. That would be just too good.
Why do you need hotspot @home if you have this plan? That seems like you are spending an extra $10/mth for nothing. All your calls are free because the plan is unlimited. The @home only gives you unlimited calls through wifi, not enables the use of...

What else?
Just asking out of curiosity, does this include anything else or just calling?
VOICE ONLY BUT WITH UNLIM DATA AND MSG ITS 85
Yay!
I totally switched this morning, and I'm excited. Now watch no one call me now that I have everything unlimited! Bump bump bump Go T-Mobile! Verizon, At&t, Sprint..who?
I'm joking, but I'm really happy with the plan. I think it will pay off really well, and should see a huge improvement in their sales.
