Microsoft and Nokia to Collaborate on Business Productivity

Today Microsoft and Nokia outlined a new partnership that aims to bring more powerful business productivity tools to enterprise users of Nokia phones. Under the terms of the agreement, Nokia will bring Microsoft Office Mobile and Microsoft business communications, collaboration and device management software to its Symbian devices, starting with the E Series smartphones. Beginning in 2010, Nokia will ship Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile on its smartphones. This will allow users to view, edit, create and share Office documents. It will also provide enterprise-level instant messaging with presence and conferencing tools; provide mobile access to intranet and extranet portals built on Microsoft SharePoint server; and provide businesses with better device management tools. The two companies understand that there continues to be competition between the two firms, but believe this collaboration plays to both companies' strengths and will benefit their collective customer bases.
