Nokia Booklet 3G $299 at Best Buy with AT&T Subscription

Today Nokia and AT&T shared a few more details about the availability of the Nokia Booklet 3G. The device will be sold exclusively through Best Buy stores through the holiday shopping season. The device will cost $299 if customers purchase it with a two-year, $60/month AT&T data plan. Alternately, customers can pay the full retail price of $599 with no commitment to AT&T. It will be available starting October 22, which is when Windows 7 becomes available to the public.

Why Don't?
Wouldn't it be easier, cheaper and have far more options if you pick your favorite netbook for like $350 or less, get a usb network card from the carrier of your choice and use that?
Chances are in two years or less this netbook is gonna crap out, or you're gonna want something else, and what are you going to do, pay full for a datacard?
I have a 2.5 year old Sprint SW 595u datacard that works fine with any computer I have, I even toss it on a cradlepoint router and share it, macbooks, acer netbook, asus notebook, all at the same time. I just can't see getting this?

Since you have sprint you might not know the benefits of GSM with and the SIM card. You are not locked to a device with this. Just buy a new device and put your sim in it. 1 data sim can be put in as many different devices you like at any time without...

Why pay that much for a Netbook ? Why Become A slave to the Telecoms ?
Seriously, if you want a netbook, just pay cash for it. Go to your favorite electronic place, microcenter, walmart, bestbuy, ebay, whatever, and pick up a good netbook. The cost should not exceed $350 . Then choose whatever telecom you want. Why would you want to commit yourself to a data plan for 2 yrs anyway , just of the pleasure of surfing on the same netbook ? I have a 10 inch netbook, and surfing on it is ok, but nothing like a real laptop. Ofcourse portability is why your getting it, but I think you need atleast atleast 11" to get a good experience. Buying the booklet 3G outright doesn't make you a slave. If you already have a 3G data plan you can simply insert your sim and it will work. It is hot swapable so you don't have to carry your 3G USB modem. That is the beauty of having built-in 3G. Not...

I'm intrigued by the Booklet but I have no interest in getting AT&T's data subscription since my job pays for a Sprint aircard. So that leaves me to wonder if $600 is worth it for what is essentially a beefed up netbook.

It comes with the 3G radio. Hence the name 3G. The question I have is it locked to AT&T or sim unlocked. That makes a big difference to me.

ok why make a netbook on att with their spotty 3g coverage. it would be very frustrating to use edge trying to surf the web. sprint needs to hurry and get one. verizon already does.
Sprint by next month they will get a Dell netbook, that's what the rumor says

According to the only Nokia source I could find it would be available for pre-order starting October 22 but not in stock until mid November.
