Apple Lifts VoIP Over 3G Restriction with New iPhone SDK

Today in conjunction with its announcement about the iPad tablet computer, Apple also released a software development kit for the iPhone. iPhone OS 3.2 SDK will let developers adopt their existing iPhone applications for the iPad. It also removes the restriction Apple had placed preventing applications such as Skype from placing VoIP calls over 3G networks. AT&T has already relented on this point, but now applications can use AT&T's data network (rather than its voice network) to make voice calls using VoIP technology. One application that uses VoIP for phone calls, called iCall, is already available in the iPhone Apps Store. There has been no word from other VoIP purveyors, such as Skype and TruPhone, as to whether or not they will revise their applications to reflect the new change in rules.

Throw Out the Cell Phone, Home Phone and Cable Bills!!
I would like to see if I could beat the cost in one year by using an iPad (skype) as a phone instead of paying my AT&T cell phone bill each month.
3G iPad Costs:
$629 16 gig 3G iPad
$29.99 12 months($359.8😎 Unlimited Data
$988.00 a year.
I would then need to purchase US to US skype telephone number for $50 a year.(this would allow anyone to call you and allow you to make US calls)
988 + 50 =1038 a year
Now, I currently pay $75 a month for a 1st Generation iPhone 700 minute plan.
This plan cost me $900 a year.
The iPad will cost me $138 more a year.
However, having a 3G connecting device will allow me with the extra perk of being able to search the web...
