Acer today followed up their original Liquid smartphone with the new Acer Liquid e. Like the original Liquid, the Acer Liquid e is also a Google Android device, but the new Liquid e will get Android 2.1, aka Éclair, instead of the older Android 1.6. The Acer Liquid e will also use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor running at 768MHz. That's underclocked compared to some of the 1GHz Snapdragon phones on the market, but still faster than most current smartphone devices. The Acer Liquid e features a 3.5", WVGA capacitive touchscreen, and a 5-megapixel camera around back. The phone will support the Live Wallpapers also found on the faster, Snapdragon-based Google Nexus One phone. In addition, Acer has also made some improvements to the Android UI. For instance, users will be able to use a Quick Contacts feature to switch between address book and social network apps.
