Regulators to Probe Apple's Exclusion of Google's AdMob

According to the Financial Times, U.S. regulators are preparing to investigate the recent changes to Apple's iPhone developer terms of service, in particular, the ones which exclude competitive advertising services. The Times' sources didn't know if the Federal Trade Commission or the Department of Justice is the agency in question, but regulators will specifically attempt to determine if Apple's new terms of service are anti-competitive. Google recently said that the changes create an "artificial barrier to competition."

Isn't Google doing the same thing Apple is doing? Purchasing a mobile advertising company so they can produce a greater profit for their company? Why then should they insist on another company allowing them to make money off of their product?
It isn't like AdMob designed, developed and manufactured their own hardware, software AND advertising strategy into one convenient package for consumers. Apple does. Hell, even Google doesn't make their own hardware!!!!
Google makes a TON of money off of Apple as it is with their search engine being the out-of-box default on the iPhone so why shouldn't Apple implement their own advertising system?

1) Google chose to be a competitor to Apple.
2) Google chose to buy Admob, which chose to sell itself to Google.
3) Apple has every right to keep a direct competitor from monitoring device usage statistics on their own platform. That's like CBS monitoring FOX's viewers.
Regulators can whine and moan. I'm willing to bet nothing will happen other than a lot of whining. I don't know how you can argue Google's acquisition of Admob was okay, but this isn't.

I won't even lie, I from the moment I heard about the new developer terms regarding ads, thought it was violating anti-trust and competition laws. It's kinda no different than what Intel was trying to do to AMD in regards to the Video cards and their chips.
