Microsoft Details New Mobile Platform Push for Businesses

Microsoft today shared more information on how it plans to help its business customers adopt its future mobile platforms. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said in a webcast, "In the next six months we will release a new embedded OS called Windows Embedded Handheld, based on Windows Mobile 6.5 technologies ... [and] in the second half of 2011, we will release a version of Windows Embedded Handheld based on Windows Phone 7 technology." He also indicated that the company will "[work] on a clear path for enterprises to migrate their line-of-business applications to our new application platform" to Windows Phone 7. Windows Mobile 6.5.3 is the current version available to consumers and businesses. Microsoft announced Windows Phone 7 in February, plans to finish the main code within the next few weeks, and release the first wave of WP7 devices by the holiday shopping season.

Seems Windows CE is still alive for one more round. Let's hope Microsoft makes it work better than 6.5...

Somebody is putting overtime!!!

It sounds like MS is keeping itself busy to try to recuperate market. I am eligible to upgrade now, but to be honest, I'm waiting for this next big thing (WP7) not saying I will get one, but I will compare iPn' 4(AAPL), Android(GOOG), BlkBry(RIMM), & WP7(MSFT)... and let the winner take my money and my signature on a contract. Applause for MSft 😉
