HTC to Ditch Samsung Displays in Favor of Sony
Jul 26, 2010, 7:33 AM by Eric M. Zeman
HTC today announced that it is switching display suppliers for its high-end Android devices. HTC will use Sony's Super LCD display (SLCD) technology in a number of handsets, most notably the Nexus One and Desire. According to HTC, SLCDs offer better power management and wider viewing angles when compared to previous generations of LCD technology. HTC is making the switch, in part, because Samsung has been unable to supply it with enough AMOLED displays for HTC to meet the demand for its products.
