Clear Intros iSpot WiMax Hotspot for Apple Devices

Clear today announced the iSpot, a new WiMax-based mobile hotspot specifically designed for and marketed to Apple's iOS devices, such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. According to Clear, the iSpot connects to its WiMax network and then provides Wi-Fi for up to eight properly equipped Wi-Fi devices. The iSpot using MAC filtering to allow only Apple devices to connect. Other Wi-Fi devices won't be able to use it. Clear says that the iSpot offers average download speeds between 3Mbps and 6Mbps. The iSpot costs $99 and will be available directly from Clear or Clear's authorized retailers starting August 10. Clear also said that new customers may purchase the iSpot August 4 or August 5 for a special introductory price of $29. Service plans for the iSpot start at $25 per month.
