T-Mobile Clears the Air Over HTC G2 Wi-Fi Software Update
Oct 13, 2010, 7:22 AM by Eric M. Zeman
In response to reports about a software update for the HTC G2 device, T-Mobile has issued a statement to clarify its position. T-Mobile said, "Wi-Fi Calling and tethering/Wi-Fi sharing are not currently supported on the T-Mobile G2. T-Mobile knows these features are important to consumers and we're working to deliver them to G2 users in the future. We have nothing further to announce at this time." The HTC G2 runs Android 2.2 Froyo, which has native hotspot sharing software on board. T-Mobile is not yet permitting customers to use this feature. Sprint and Verizon, in comparison, are allowing hotspot sharing on devices such as the HTC EVO 4G and Motorola Droid X.

If data on handset is unlimited, there should be an extra fee for tethering (especially wifi tethering). If data is limited, there shouldn't be an extra fee.
