Sanyo today announced a new flip handset for Sprint's network, the Taho. As the name suggests, the Taho is a ruggedized device built to withstand punishment from the environment (shock, vibration, dust, moisture), and it earns a mil-spec rating of 810G. Sprint points out that the Taho is fully submersible in water for up to 30 minutes. Other stand out features of the Taho include dual displays, a 2 megapixel camera with video capture and flash, GPS, microSD slot supporting cards up to 32GB, and stereo Bluetooth. The Taho is available starting today via Sprint's retail stores, web site, and telesales. It will be available in all Sprint sales channels by January 9. It costs $99 after mail-in rebate.

Time to retire my trusted 7050
Though it has never gave me a single problem, Im excited about the new Taho! Glad to see Sanyo didn't forget about those of us who love tough rugged phones, for a while I thought Sprint was just going to target the Droid market.
Thank you Sprint and Sanyo!!!
For your sake I hope Kyocera has made some strides since taking over manufacturing for Sanyo.
Still, this phone looks like it fits the bill for someone looking for a phone to perform its primary function.
