Documents on the Federal Communications Commission web site reveal details about an unannounced device from Novatel. The FCC has approved a device called the MiFi 4082 with support for 850/1900MHz CDMA, Wi-Fi, and WiMax. Based on the FCC filings, it would appear that this device is intended to be a mobile hotspot that takes advantage of Sprint's WiMax network for the main mobile broadband connection, allowing other devices to access the internet via Wi-Fi. The FCC documents make no mention of Sprint or Clearwire, but the WiMax spectrum listed in the documents is the same used by Sprint and Clearwire for their joint WiMax network.
