Clearwire CEO Latest to Bash AT&T / T-Mobile Tie-Up

Clearwire's interim CEO John Stanton has expressed worry over the proposed AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, he said, "This represents something we're seriously concerned with," and called it a "huge challenge to competition in the industry." Stanton also called AT&T a "brutal competitor" and said, "They'll beat you up, and then they'll buy you." He also accused AT&T's long-term exclusive deal with Apple to sell the iPhone of "stepping on the air hose of T-Mobile." Earlier this week, Sprint's CEO also mentioned concerns over the mergers possible affects on the industry. The merger would create the nation's largest wireless network operator if approved.

I still don't understand...

...why people are so worried about/predicting the doom of Sprint.
It's just ridiculous. It seems that just because the competitor has more customers that this makes them a better product or a better deal. In this case, the ATT deal doesn't represent either.
So good they get some more network. Big whoop! This amounts to polishing a turd in my book... well maybe upgrading to something with some corn in it 🤣
I don't think this will upgrade the US's worst cell wireless carrier's customer service issues.
I'm pretty certain that ATT will share the costs of this 39 billion dollar deal along to its customers. Expect them to flaunt the fact that they are "#1" by hiking up the rates.
This along with future billing errors, network migration...

Who knows what AT&T will and won't do with costs after the merger? I doubtful much. I also don't want or expect the death of Sprint and Clear. I don't use them because I can't abide cdma. BUT, if I was to or had to use a cdma carrier, it would be S...

I definately see a big shuffling here. There is a lot of hate toward AT&T. People will leave and I see the 3 big companies start evening out. Sprint will gain alot of customers as the cheapest carrier. I also see Sprint changing some plans and policie...

Let the ATT fanboys have their circle jerk.

No use bringing logic into this.

So far all the Sprint/Clearwire hater posts have nothing but bashing to say about their opposition to the deal.
So "circle jerk" doesn't violate the terms and conditions of this website? But other similar terms do... especially ones in a foreign language. That's pretty odd.

AT&T soon to be the biggest...

Ok so i think there are a lot of jelious people out there whom prolly have a different carrier... well it all comes down to the people being mad about AT&T/ T-mobile's deal... just so you know you all will eventually come to the dark side... Its just within time people... Oh and btw i work for AT&T... So Sprint needs to stop crying about it and just go with the flow, we never cried when Sprint merged with nextel... so there you have it people... Time will tell...
What did I say about undereducated and/or unintelligent people boasting & rooting for their chosen wireless carrier like this is some sort of sports competition?

He would have, but?

He tried to send an email, but the 2.5ghz wimax wouldn't penetrate the screen door on his porch, so it never went through.

Looks like Clear and Sprint are the most vocal because their deals did not materialize. I still think that this deal will not be as bad as they claim because their will be a lot of divestures that regional players will have the opportunity to vie for...

Don't hate the player, hate the game

Sprint insulted the Germans with that $20 billion offer. This is a business. What were DT to do. Go with a failing company like Sprint that abandons technologies, makes bad business deals and bleeds customers or go with a cash rich company like AT&T who utilitzes the same technology?

This is a business. People are in it to make money. You think Sprint/Clear gives a flying phuck about the consumer? They're just hating cause they were outbid so now they're playing the consumer advocate card in an effort to improve their public image. What a crock. At the end of the day, they're just another company trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents.

Do you have a link or something from some verifiable source, or are you just spouting nonsense made up in your mind?

I can imagine the conversation:*

Dan Hesse: They offered you what?

DT: 39...

Dan: Holy crap! Take it!

DT: Really?

Dan: Yeah man that's a $%^#load of money... Hey... How much do you get if the deal falls through?

DT: 3 bil and some e...
