AT&T Wireless today launched 3G service in two new cities - Dallas and San Diego - expanding its 3G coverage area to six cities in all. The service is based on UMTS / WCDMA technology, which offers wireless data speeds between 220 and 320 kilobits-per-second (kbps). The company initially launched the service in Detroit, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle in July.

New customers

The two new cities are only covered for existing customers for them to roam in, new customers at this time cannot sign up for UMTS there.

Too bad they are still losing more customers than they are signing up

I believe the lst numbers I saw were negative growth for AT&T. Why not stick all of this money to upgrading the crap they got already
ATTWS is contractually obligated to release UMTS in 5 cities by 2005.
