Microsoft Settles Sendo Smartphone Suit

Microsoft and British phone maker Sendo have settled a lawsuit in which Sendo had accused the software giant of stealing its technology and customers. The details of the settlement were not disclosed, but Sendo said today it was "extremely pleased with the terms", which include Microsoft returning its four percent stake in Sendo. The company was Microsoft's first key hardware partner in entering the smartphone market, until the two companies unexpectedly cut ties in late 2002, just weeks before the first Windows Smartphone launch was due. A month later Sendo sued its former partner. Sendo later announced plans to devlop phones using Nokia's rival Series 60 platform, and followed through with the recently-launched Sendo X smartphone.
