Download and install iTunes if you don't already have it.
1. Open iTunes and select your "Library."
2. Right-click on a song you would like to use as a ringtone and select "Get Info"
3. In the newly opened window click on the "Options" tab.
4. Check the boxes to the left of "Start Time:" & "Stop Time:"
5. Enter a "Start Time:" and a "Stop Time:" Verizon/Motorola V710 rings for approx. 25 seconds, so a 25 second time length is recommended.
6. Click on "OK" and the window will close.
7. Click on "Advanced" near the top left area of the iTunes window and select "Convert Selection to MP3" from the drop ...

Then I use iTunes to convert it back to mp3 by simply opening it in iTunes. Any converter will do.
