Both the Motorola Droid X2 and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 can be updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread thanks to Verizon Wireless and Sony Ericsson. Droid X2 owners can update their handset over the air using the on-board system update tools. If they don't, Verizon's servers will eventually notify the user that the update is available. Xperia X10 owners will need to connect their handset to a computer to download and install the Gingerbread system update. It will become available at some point in the next few days. The update adds a number of new features to both handsets.

(Follow link to read.)

Google today acknowledged a security issue recently discovered by researchers that left Android device users' authentication details exposed when used over unprotected Wi-Fi networks. In response, Google said it is pushing out a security update that should fix the problem. "Today we're starting to roll out a fix which addresses a potential security flaw that could, under certain circumstances, allow a third party access to data available in calendar and contacts," Google said in a statement. "This fix requires no action from users and will roll out globally over the next few days."

(Follow link to read.)
