Same went with the past version I had, VX11

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

bp74 submitted this review of the LG VX-3100 / 3100A / TM250:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

This was my first LG phone. Sure it had no bells and whistles, but it had the features that I used everyday. It had alarms, calendar, and a calculator which I used on a regular basis. Had no problems with reception or charging. This replaced my old Motorolla Talkabout which I had problems with charging-God, I hated that phone. After I upgraded to something newer, I had this one hooked up for my 8 year old son. It was simple for him to use, and is still in use by giving it to a friend who didn't have a cell after my son got a new phone for his birthday.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

floydb_1982 submitted this review of the LG VX-3100 / 3100A / TM250:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

I had the LG VX-3100 and it was the worst piece of crap I have ever used in my life. Just to get a signal you had to practially lean your whole body up against the cell tower just for it to find signal. Using it in a trailer park is the worst for this phone. U see the minute you drive into a trailer park the signal goes 100% dead on the phone. Even if you point the dam thing at a cell tower from a cross the street it can't seem to get any signal from it all for a few minutes but even then it is only like 2 to 3 bars at max. The LG VX-3100 is by far the most worthless cell phone in the world. Don't buy this unless you live on top of a cell tower because is mostly the only you will be able to get a cell signal. Also even if your driving and you drive by a cell tower it most of time won't find the signal. I lost the dam thing at the library at one time and I'm so glad it happened.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This phone was designed very poorly and doesn't contain any special features.
I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone, for any purpose.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Jack submitted this review of the LG VX-3100 / 3100A / TM250:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I know these are strong words, but this is simply the best cell phone I've ever had. It's tiny--one of the smallest ever made. It doesn't have a camera (I think phone cameras are silly and over-hyped, anyway), or a color screen, but the screen is very, very bright and visible in the sun. Text messaging is as easy as it is on most other phones.

Others have complained about their reception, but that's generally an issue with the service provider rather than the phone. I had Verizon, and my reception was always perfect (I live in Los Angeles, for what it's worth).

The earpiece volume is excellent. Very, very loud.

The battery lasted forever--another benefit of having a simple phone without all the childish bells and whistles.

I dropped the phone many, many times, and it kept on tickin'. Unfortunately, I lost it recently after about three years of excellent service. Luckily, I have a friend with the same phone and she's giving me hers (she has the misguided need to "upgrade").

Again, the size was and is almost unparalleled; the only phone that comes to mind is the new Pantech. This is a tiny phone, folks. It's unfortunate that it was discontinued in favor of larger, bulkier phones with more gimmicks that most people stop using after the first week, anyway.

If you can get your hands on one, try it out.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I really liked this phone, it was a good size, easy to fit into my pocket or purse. It wasn't fancy, but I didn't really need it to be either. It was easy to use and easy to navigate and I thought the ringtones were nice, even if they got old after a while. The phone did tend to get hot after talking for a while, but the battery life was long and the phone suited me just fine. It's a great phone for someone who just wants to use their phone to talk instead of for everyday life functioning.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Let me say one thing. IT SUCKS!! It barely ever gets reception, and when it does, it gets a piss ant of a signal and then dropps calls. Ringotnes are nice and low so you can't hear them and the only good ringtone it has is the holkey plokey which isnt even the real thing! When it actually has service to make a call, it gets so hot it feals like it will ignite and kill me.

Conclusion:

THis phone is CRAP CRAP CRAP!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

No speakerphone, camera, or even a color screen. However, it would be a great phone for someone who doesn't use it alot, or is someone's first phone. This was my first phone, and I loved it when I got it. It is a great simple phone, but nothing more.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

XXP submitted this review of the LG VX-3100 / 3100A / TM250:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

This phone is very small. Easily placed in almost any pocket with no bulge and no trouble.

Reception could be better but is OK all but the most "outback" of Verizon network areas. It doesn't have an extendable antenna -- and that would probably make the difference. In an old house with wire-backed lathe-&-plaster walls the reception gets shot down very quickly, which is a drag.

Otherwise the phone is great. And its size is so perfect that I won't switch it unless I can find another that is as finely designed.

Pros: size! and it works in most Verizon situations just fine.

Cons: it turns itself off about once every 4 to 6 weeks. Sometimes requires a hard reboot (remove the battery and replace) to get it come back on.

Reception is fine. Ringer is loud enough. Ringtones are for the kiddies. This phone is for grown ups.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The reception has been great, much better than my other NOKIA phone. It's durable. I've dropped it numerous times and it works like new. It is small which is a positive thing and very sleek. If you just want a cell phone to talk and TXT message then this is a good choice.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It's tough. I left it in the rain over night and after being dried out it worked. This was about 5 of these phone ago. So apparently even the pro is not true. Cons include : It gets horrible reception. It breaks all the time. It is easy to loose. They need to take this phone off the market. Verizon was really smart in giving this phone for free because who ever owns it will have to replace it ALL THE TIME!!!!!! That means money in their pockets. One piece of advice for potential buyers : "Just Say No"

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pistolero submitted this review of the LG VX-3100 / 3100A / TM250:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Good for a beginner..if they're eight years old. Terrible reception, ringtones are practically inaudible. Generally useless unless you need to defend yourself from rabid dogs, then you can probably throw it at them while you're running away. However, I doubt they'd even give it a second glance, which is what I should have had the foresight to do when choosing a starter cell phone. Unfortunately, my bank account ended up making the decision, and I bought this one.

It's really durable, though. I accidentally placed it into a cup of water while fighting my way through rush-hour traffic on the 405, and didn't realize it until I had made my exit. Pulled it out, took the battery off and let it dry....practically good as new. Which isn't really saying much, but hey. It has fallen out of my pocket onto a hard ceramic and concrete floor numerous times when I was a server at a restaurant, people kicked it around and I finally found it later on and it hadn't broken, so as one reviewer suggested maybe LG planned on having people throw it in frustration, so they made it extra-cushy. I'm upgrading to a phone that was practically free, and it honestly feels like I'm being released from prison. Don't get this unless you hate someone and want unspeakably cruel revenge...then buy it for them.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This phone NEVER has a signal. On the rare occasions that it has a signal, all I have to do is turn my head and the signal is gone. I also had to replace it after a few days because the screen stopped working. I have known several people that have had this phone and have hated it as much as I do. I have moved from Washington state to New Jersey, and am convinced that there isn't a spot from one coast to the other where this phone will work.

CONS
*horrible reception
*bad ring tones
*non-extendable antenna
*have I mentioned the bad reception?????
*no calculator
*schedule/calendar not useful

PROS
*resiliant--withstands being thrown against pavement in anger over loss of signal
*small and sleek, fits into pocket (but doesn't get reception there)
*easy to use (if you are able to get a signal to use it)
*has blackjack

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It has nice features but I'm currently on my second LG vx3100. The first had no signal reception. The coverage is excellent in Columbus, OH. I experienced poor sound quality though. I recommend this phone for someone who wants a decently priced phone with basic features.

-Littleevert
Columbus,OH

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
