KingPhoneReviewer submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

Overall a pretty good device for the price. It does take a little whiles for the GPS to work its way into locating your position and it force closes my apps from time to time but quite a few phones do that anyways. Other than that I give it a average rating.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

crunchsolutions submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Was graduating from a Palm Pixi. Had used an Android at work and wasn't thrilled by it. Didn't want to join the iPhone universe and had been thinking about a Windows phone but Sprint don't seem to be supporting Windows at all (as of summer 2012).

Somewhat reluctantly and in large part thanks to all these Phonescoop reviews, opted for this phone.

Am LOVING it. Cannot believe that the Android experience can be so different from phone to phone. For those who are hesitating, this phone is available at a very good price right now and it's a pleasure to use.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Aeperk submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

This is a beautiful device, truly the screen, responsiveness and the camera are wonderful. Seductive enough, almost, to forget what this device is supposed to do, make phone calls. I gave up, after months of using this phone, and getting sub-par performance out of the signal strength and call quality, the last straw came on my last trip to Chicago, when the gps proved to be laughable. I mean, it not only doesn't work, but when it's working, it's not working. I went through two of these phones, and my girlfriend still has hers, and none of them posess the ability to lock on to gps satellites. And if you're thinking that you'll just use the map function without the gps, you forget, you're also not getting signal. No signal, no gps, sorry, you're beautiful, but thats a deal breaker for me.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Billy Idol submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Even with the Advent of the G4 on the Horizon, this device still screams. The Jelly Bean update was nice. I ditched the 1800mah battery for a 4100 which makes the phone a pleasure to use all day long without worry. My only complaint is it is a Wimax phone and Sprint has no 4g coverage worth a darn. But that is no rap on the device itself.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I would highly recommend that you visit a store and try doing the Sprint Ready Now service. That's a service that would really, I mean really help you guys a lot to learn and understand how does the device works.Just view Sprint.com/readynow to make an appointment. Sprint rep will be helping you guys and teaches how does the device performs/They'll be giving you some tips and how to amximize device full potential. ;). You can even view it online @ sprint.com/getreadynow to view some video tutorials. :). that could really help you guys a LOT! :)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

PlayboyPenguin submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I never give a phone a full five stars but this phone deserves it (despite a few minor cons I will discuss later). I switched from an Evo 4G which I really liked but this phone is in a class by itself. It was between this phone and the iPhone 4s. I am certain I made the right choice. Not only does this phone handle websites like YouTube much better than even my iPad can, but it is a great phone experience as well as a great web browser.

Pros:
-Best web browser I have used on a phone
-Most beautiful display I have ever seen
-Great battery life for a large smartphone
-Very colorful and easy to see menus
-Great levels of customization available
-Easy to navigate menus
-Excellent sound quality (speaker & earpiece)
-Thin and lightweight
-Camera is amazing (equal even to iPhone)
-Large easy to use keyboard w/swype
-Very fast processor
-Smooth operation/transitions
-Expandable memory

Cons:
-Power button position (see below)
-Plastic build materials (see below)
-No HDMI port
-Lack of good cases (see below)

The phone does have a few cons. As I mentioned above I do not like the power button position. It is opposite the volume controls and I keep lowering the volume when hitting the power button. The thin textured plastic back does feel a little flimsy on the black model. Although on the white model the smooth textured back actually feels much more solid and higher end. It is hard to describe how different the two versions feel. The white model reminds me very much of a huge version of my old white iPhone 3s. There is no HDMI port but I never used the one on my EVO. There is also a lack of good covers, but I have found covers cause more damage than they prevent when dust gets in them. None of these issues are major and none detract from the phone deserving a full 5 stars when compared to other phones.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

keepfit7 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

The things I appreciate most on this phone are: more internal phone memory and the BIG Screen. I'm coming from the HTC EVO 4G (which is still a GREAT Phone) however the internal memory was only 400+MB which I had to reset the phone once so I can appreciate the Epic Touch 4G's larger internal memory-I guess this alone is why I switched to the Epic. The screen is a litle larger than the EVO which I love-not planning to buy a tablet. The Epic 4G is a little faster than EVO also of course with the dual core processor and more RAM. Think HTC EVO 4G with upgraded hardware. Hurry and buy the Samsung Epic Touch 4G - you won't regret it!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Not here. The photon was the best to me of what I mentioned above, reception , call quality, but after using this I am wondering what delayed me in purchasing this one.

PROS
super fast
screen
call quality
build quality
size

battery-not too bad for what it is running

CONS

NONE........

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

quikfeat submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This is a very good phone with a NICE BIG SCREEN which I enjoy. The only thing which keeps me from giving it a perfect 5 is I am coming from the HTC Evo 4G and although it doesn't have as fast a processor as the Epic Touch 4G, for some reason the Evo web surfed faster in places where reception may not be the the strongest which makes me believe the Evo has a superior internal antenna. The only other con on the Epic Touch 4G is the Evo resized a web page better when "pinching" the screen wider and bigger. I think Vlingo Voice Assistant is good - haven't compared it with Siri on the Apple iPhone. The one thing I like about Android over the iPhone's IOS is it plays flash videos and it has free turn by turn voice navigation on Sprint. Overall Great Smart Phone - just wished it web surfed as fast as my Evo in places with weaker reception.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

But there are some problems you need to know before getting one.
1)The LoS issues
-from what ive seen the radio has problems switching back and forth from 3g-4g
-sprint reps have said that leaving the 4g off(just turning it on for downloads/streaming) seems to fix the issues and i would have to agree
2)Touch screen issues while plugged into the wall
-some chargers seem to be causing an issue where the touchscreen glitches or becomes unresponsive at times
-only fix ive found so far is to replace the charger(went to local sprint store and they were happy to change out the charger for me)

As far as the hardware on the phone goes it absolutely amazing but, due to what im hoping are just some software issues, it holds this phone back from being the best it can be.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I assumed that since it was an android phone it could go to desktop view of websites. If you go to yahoo for example it goes to the mobile version. I have read that you can go to the desktop view if you type something into the browser but it does not stick. Close the browser and reopen it and you will be at the mobile view again. There is no option in settings to uncheck moblie view like on the evo.

Go and check out the browser before you buy this phone if thats important to you.

Battery life seemed good.
Larger screen is good at first but if you come from an evo like I did you will be disappointed as it is not nearly as clear.
The camera is the best I have ever seen on a phone. Crystal clear pictures.
Again I should have checked out the browser, thats my bad. When I saw the bigger screen and great camera I was hooked.
Going to eat the $35 restocking fee for another phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

PersoninNJ submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone is great! I had a Intercept - a dog - and thought I was the cat's meow when I upgraded to a Evo 4G. Then I came across the Epic - for only $50 upgrade. And it was only good for that night - so I did it. And I am so glad I did.

Pros-

Screaming fast - blows away my Evo 4.
Screen Looks great ! Watching Netflix never looked better.

Call Quality- I now use my phone more than my landline. People can't tell I am on cell phone - its that good.

Battery life - my day starts off with a conference call for 1 hour each day. Thats at 8 a.m. Then I do about 1 more hour of talking during day and use internet all day and text about 30 times. At 7 pm - still have over half the battery left. Thats great.

Pictures - camera is awesome. Compared my phone with the apple 4s - My pictures were great. But I could see them better with the larger screen.

Using wifi - all things load great and fast.

Cons -

Not an apple so no speaker docks for it.
Not as many clips available for it so far.

Internet speed on SPRINT - could be better. Forget the speedtest - just use apps. I did some side by side with a verizon iphone 4s - att 4s - and my phone. Just went to local papers and NJ.com using stock browsers. Worked ok - wasn't too bad.

Note - I do have a sprint airwave 3g in my house. I have tried making calls with it and with out the unit. The calls still sound good without the airwave. Now 3g service is different - with it on - using internet is superfast. I guess it is what could be if Sprint would upgrade the towers.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Everytime I go from using my epic to my photon I feel like im taking a step backwards. The epic is a amazing device and the best out right now. The camera, the speed and overall class of the phone just dominate all contenders. Don't get me wrong photon is a nice device but can't compare with the epic touch. I don't have a need to carry my tab with me cause this phone does it all. If you're due for a upgrade this is a must buy.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ruggy23 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Have had this phone for a few months and have had absolutely NO dropped calls and the clarity, speaker, and reception in the mountains is superb.
I switched to this phone from the Samsung Galaxy S Epic. The first thing I noticed out of the box (other than the screen, more on that later) was the absolute speed increases with opening applications, loading web pages and browser navigation, and video/pic playback/editing. The 1.2 GHz dual core proc is definately what Smartphones have needed to make them zippier than alot of netbooks out there. I usually use my Galaxy S2 for google searches and general browsing because it is nearly instant, where my netbook chugs along.
Ok, so now the screen. beautiful and insanely bright without being washed out; in fact, quite the opposite. The colors are vivid and rich. And with the ability to record in 1080, the camera is a nice mesh and upgrade to this phone from the previous Galaxy S Epic.
I have read alot of reviews stating that this phone is too big and heavy. First of all, if you are in the market for a Smartphone, then a large-screened phone is something that you should expect, and want. And with the Amoled screen looking so beautiful, the larger size is for sure an welcome feature. This phone is also incredibly thin and LIGHT! Its definately not a brick like the old Epic, and for that matter, the heavy, glass-front iPhone.
Bottom line, if you want a phone that you can hang onto for a year or two and not have ANY worries about capability, connectivity, 4G capability, multimedia prowess, excellent battery life, and one of the fastest phones on the market now, this is surely an excellent choice.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

radcloser submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I carry 2 phones, work and personal. I already had the Motorola Photon for a personal phone. I was using the Optimus V from VirginMobile for work due to the unlimited plan being affordable. But ported the number to Sprint after coverage issues. I bought the iPhone 4s. I was happy how easily it fit in my pocket and carrried the MoPho in a case on my belt. After becoming disenchanted with the 4s because of miserably slow data speeds (on 3G AND wifi) I looked for something better. I swapped the iPhone for the SGS2. I'm mostly loving this phone. However, I am learning that it is lacking in the "Radio" Dept. The call quality and reception are not great. I rarely and I mean rarely ever drop calls with Sprint. But I haven't had good luck with this phone. The earpiece isn't very clear either. The speakerphone is also borderline. I am apprehensive about relying on this phone for basic communication purposes. Also, the GPS is quirky. Yesterday I was driving some place I hadn't been before. I wasn't sure where I was. I opened Google maps. The GPS icon kept flashing telling me it couldn't get a lock. Google maps thought I was about 3 miles away from where I really was. I was parked while doing this. So I got out my MoPho and instantly got a GPS lock.

Pros: Amazing display!! Very responsive. Battery is acceptable.

Cons: Call quality, ability to hold on to a call, GPS problems.

I'm trying to figure out if I just have a defective unit or if its the phone design. I have another 8 days to return it for something else.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The phone itself is by far the best out. The software however is too glitchy for me. Ebay app and a couple others always force close when EVO did not. Wifi turns on automatically. Power save mode doesnt revert back after charged. led light doesnt work right with handcent sms. some days battery is amazing and another day with same usage it gets hot and dies quick. bluetooth disconnects from my car for no reason.

I am not gonna wait for an update . however the phone is amazing and once the software is updated it will be perfect.

I gave it a four rating based on the hardware. The. software on the Evo is much better.

camera and video are amazing

call quality is not good

going to return and swap for a more stable phone

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pwabbit submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

The Samsung Epic 4G touch is a pretty awesome phone. The main issue with it is the software is buggy. For no reason at all, the phone will lose connection to the 3G and phone service. The 4G connection seems to keep working when this happens. Samsung hopefully will come out with a software update to solve this issue. The phone will rate five stars when the software update happens.

Pros:

--Large vibrant screen. Almost lifelike at displaying pictures.

--Clear external speaker (speakerphone)

--Excellent camera

--Camera flash

--Excellent 4G connectivity.

--Very thin.

--Very lightweight. Almost too light

--Very fast processor. Awesome!!!!

--SD Card can be removed with out removing the battery.

CONS:

--Buggy software

--Slippery case

--Accessories not widely available yet

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
