This is by far the best phone i have ever owed. I know im putting this information in 2008 considering the phone came out 05 but every time i get a new phone i tend to go back to this one. They need to come out with another updated version of this phone. Absolutley the best i have ever had. This phone will never lose service. The picture quality is the best hands down.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I was looking for an audiovox 8900, when i saw this one, i fell in love with it. The 8900 had a large screen, but the 9900 has a way bigger and clearer one, plus video, I had to have it. I got a refurnished one, with a 3 year warranty on it. I love that I can record stuff and put it as ringers, pretty tight. It holds alot of stuff. Overall its a very fancy phone better than those ugly costly ones on the market right now. Vcast, mp3 don't people have a life. If you want to impress your friends look for this one, its so cool.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ram591984 submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I work in a cellular phone store so I am very familier with all phone(since we carry all of the carriers). I would put this phone against any other phone out there. The CDM9900 has the best screen resolution still today, excellent reception I live in the middle of no were and against the side of a mountain, and I never lose a call. I think the features are easy to use. I had a 9900 for a while and then lost it and when I got the replacement phone from the insurance it was a Motorola V710 so I used it for a while and absolutely hated it the reception blows, I also tried a Samsung A670 and didn't like it either. Neither on of those phones even came close to the 9900 and it came out way before those other ones. So I went out and found a used one and I love it as much as I always did. I refuse to change to any of the other phones we have even the Razr doesn't compare in my opinion. I wish it wouldn't have been discontinued.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Avacado Blue submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had this phone since it came out, as well as a few others, and this is by far the best I've ever owned. After a year of hard use I finally broke it and I ended up paying more for a used replacement than I did for the original phone.

This is like no other Audiovox phone. From what I understand, this phone was actually made by Toshiba. It's not a toy or a PDA but a great phone for business and personal use. Even today it has the highest resolution and screen size you can find in a flip phone. Even my Dad's Motorola E815 display is no match for my CDM900 that came out over a year ago.

Too bad verizon isn't carrying any decent phones anymore, just gadgets for listening to music with terrible screen resolution.

Pros:
- Too many to list

Cons:
- No missed call alert
- Single small hole on earpiece must be aligned perfectly with your ear.
- No multiple alarms or snooze feature

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

newyawkgrrl submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

There are some phones out there that are really junk and I must say this one is really great. I have had this phone for a little under two years now and its still working perfectly fine.

PROS:

* large screen with great resolution
* great durable feel. not at all flimsy or feels like its going to fall apart
* clicks when it opens and closes. (most people take this for granted but I thinks its essential, it keeps it from popping open or letting the hinges get loose)
* camera quality is great
* easy to understand menu
* signal is great (then again, I do live right near Manhattan)
* earpiece quality is great
* you can set a picture and ringer to each caller
* speakerphone
* good battery life
* spped dial, voice dial, txt and pic messaging etc...

CONS:

* speakerphone is in the back. if you leave it on a table it sounds muffled obviously.
* if you drop it, the battery and battery case comes flying out
* no bluetooth or vcast but who cares. that stuff DRAINS your battery life.
* the flash doesnt work well in the dark.

If Audiovox can make this phone, exactly the way it is, but with an updates speakerphone, battery case and flash, I think it would be the perfect phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jrrab80 submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I bought this phone in Christmas 04 for a hundred bucks. This has been the best phone I've ever had and I go through alot of phones, usually about 3 or 4 a year. I live in southern OH and it's in the sticks some of my phones I couln't even talk in my bedroom this phone I could lay on it and it wouldn't drop a call and they had no problems hearing me. The pictures/video were the best I've seen on a camera video phone even when put up against the new megapixel cameras not to mention the largest most detailed display on any phone, also when going through saved pictures there's no loading or sluggish menu. I used the internet feature to check my email, game scores, and even shop on ebay! I loved using the voice recorder to make my own ringers and they were plenty loud. phone was very customizable you could give people their own ringer, picture etc. you could have a different screen saver on the front lcd than the internal. The speakerphone is a godsend I don't know about anyone else but my friends like to talk alot about nothing and no one ever knew they were on speaker phone or knew I wasn't listening! this is a huge plus for me. There's not enough room to talk about all the positives of this phone. Just a little clue on how great this phone is: I love getting new phones and just recently I accidentally dropped my phone into a pitcher of alcoholic beverage it was between this phone and the new lg 9800 and I chose this phone hands down and I paid more than what I paid the first time, so if your smart track one of these down on ebay and you'll never have another worry about a cellular telephone device, who cares about new phones with mp3 players thats why everyone has Ipods.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Punia submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have owned this phone since it first came out in Oct. '04. First of all the quality is a step above most other phones out there. Second the call quality and connection is great. Battery life was an issue until I got the extended battery and now the are $15.00 on VZW's web site. I have been looking around (for curiosity purposes) at other phones and nothing can really hold a candle to this phone. Remember this is a phone 1st and then everything else. Camera on this phone is better than most and inside screen is still the best on the market. This phone has a couple of flaws such as the outside screen is disappointing and no Bluetooth. I have owned many phones and I must say overall, this one is the best. Audiovox (Toshiba) went out with a bang.

Pro's:
Reception
Start up time
Inside Screen
Quality
Ease of Use

Con's
Outside LCD
Original Battery Life
No Bluetooth
Speakerphone (call has to be activated before speakerphone will work)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I can't say it enough, but since it's been discontinued, I've been phone shopping for my next Verizon play toy. It's not the most sturdy I've own, but it still turns heads when I whip that display out and show my friends some pics. Thinking about getting the LG 8100, but I might just buy a friend's 9900 just to keep that sexy model for another 6 months. I want to see if Verizon will have a phone that will be comparable or even better than the 9900's display. If you can still buy the Audiovox 9900, jump on it. You will not be displeased.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

What a steal! Phone has been great to me the past 9 months and has to be one of my favorites so far.

PROS:
*Unrivaled main display
*Awesome RF performance and sound quality (tri-mode as well)
*VGA camera with flash and video recording
*Great speaker phone
*Loud ear piece and ringers
*Cool "flashlight" feature

CONS:
*Build quality (phone doesn't feel as solid as other phones I've owned)
*Outer display not very visible outdoors (or even indoors for that matter)
*Moderate battery life
*Lack of Get It Now applications (phone is discontinued though but even when it was released, there were so few apps and games available)
*No bluetooth

*This phone is a solid 4.5 in my book but I went ahead and gave it a full 5 considering how inexpensive it was.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have owned my 9900 since October of 2003 and just love it. I can even tell you how many times i have dropped the thing, and each time, it just turnes right back on with out any problems. The anntenna on this thing can go throuh SO much abuse, and still say nice and straight.

Pros: High rez screen
Speaker phone
Very easy to use
Great camera

Cons: Clicking noise when you open/close
Low rez Caller ID Screen on front
So/So battery life

Over all i would highley recomend this phone. With service from Verizon Wireless, reception is wonderful, sound is very clear, and buttons are well lit and easy to use. Gread Job Audiovox!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

L7jr submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

It really is a shame that this phone sold out so quickly from Verizon. When people see me holding this phone in my hand, they all have the same reaction: "It's fairly big for a recent phone." Once I tell them all the features it has they then think it is about right in size in relation to it's features. The phone has room for 300 phone book entries, numerous ring tones (including normal ones), voice activated guidance (similar to LG Driving Mode but not as advanced), speaker phone, amazing camera and camcorder, camera and camcorder flash, customizable backgrounds for menus, "my menu" feature, outside color screen and I could go on and on.
The phone does it have it's pros and cons. The pros include amazing features, internal display, large keypad layout, reception, loud ring tones, the excellent travel charger which can fold to make it easier to carry and the excellent speaker phone for use while driving, and the ability to lock the side buttons so that buttons aren't inadvertently hit by accident while in your pocket. The phone does have cons however.
The cons though small prevent me from giving this phone a perfect 5. The ear-piece has to be held perfectly to the ear otherwise the person on the other end can't be heard all that well. In other words, the phone has one sweet spot. The phone also only has 4 bars for its reception which took some getting used to. It's not really a con but I put it as one because I had to to get used to it because every other phone I ever had prior to this had 5 or more bars for its reception. The battery life can also be uneven.
As you can see this phone had lots of features and many pros and only a few cons. In my opinion, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. If you ever see this phone in $150 range, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it when compared to newer phones that cost the same.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I believe the wait was worth it. Due to it's late release the price on Verizon's new every two made it almost free. Sorry to see this model so short lived. I am in agreement with the other reviews. They say it all. My only comment is since there are not many high end video phones out there yet I have not had the chance to receive one on the phone. Have sent a few to my computer with mixed results. With so many features I have yet to exploit the phone 100%. I am happy with this phone and hope to purchase a follow on Toshiba platform. Streaming Video would have been nice. The camara does a good job, and looks as nice as the early entry mega-pixel models. I will carry this phone the whole two years or longer if no Toshiba follow up model.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

hwanyoung submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Good RF phone with nice screen.
I found that I can continue a phone conversation in my apartment elevator with the 9900. unlike my old LG3100. I'm not sure if that's a phone issue or better network issue, but just happy that i can continue talking where i once couldn't.
The screen is ridiculous sweet.
When i first looked at the phone i thought is was a dummy one with just a picture on the screen, but it was on and just so sweet.
The wall papers look alot better on the 9900 compared to my friend's LG4500 and 6100.
Anycase, the phone is bigger than i'd like it too be, but that's the handoff for the screen i guess.
The flip clicks when it's completely open and sometimes I wish it had a smoother spring.
But you get use to it after a while.
The camera quality seems to be better than some of the megapixel cameras out there. i don't know the specs but just looks sweet.
Charging is easy and the battery lasts pretty good. It's not as long like gsm phones but a couple days with normal usage is pretty good for a cdma phone.
The speaker phone is a little tinny but that's because i use to use NEXTEL phones at work.
The overall call quality is ok, a little static but i think that has to do more with the network.
The menus is a little slow but not crazy like the T720's from motorola.
overall i'm happy that i got this phone while it was out.
I've had friends ask if they can buy the phone off me b/c they can't find it at any local verizon stores anymore.
good pick for good price.
just wish it was vcast enabled... would have been awesome.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The camera is nice for a phone and the screen is very nice and high resolution. It also has a speakerphone and is Tri-Mode wich is important to me. Anyways, this phone is packed with features and holds very good reception. It is also a solid quality phone and has good call quality. I recommend it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

vzgirl submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I love this phone. I like that it is big enough for me not to lose. I have also dropped this phone about four times and it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. The camera on this phone is the best I have seen. I like the big internal screen and the different menus syles that are available. You can actually take pictures and use the as your menu icons. I wish I could find a USB cable though, that is my biggest issue with the phone.
Pros:
Love the Camera. You can take pics with the internal and external screen.
You can email the video.
Volume is excellent.
Menu is easy to navigate.

Cons:
Once a call is ended you do not have the option to access other phone numbers by the same contact.

Speaker phone is not very strong.

No USB cable!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

MJM submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I'm going to be as thorough as possible in my review so you can get a good idea of the phone.

Okay, I lost my Moto v60p and needed a phone. I didn't feel like spending big bucks on a top-dollar phone, so I was turning to cheaper phones such as the LG VX6100 camera phones, and other models in that league. I was at the Verizon kiosk and that was the first time I'd seen this phone. Needless to say, I wanted it, and they said that we had to go to Ft. Meyers to get the phone (I live about 30 miles away). The next day we went there, and they explained to us I would be receiving the phone in the mail because they were all sold out, because the phone was SO POPULAR. That's the bottom line. I guess the manufacturers were so under-stocked because they didn't expect the huge popularity of the phone, therefor the phone got sold out within weeks of its debut in October. I received my phone in the mail not 4 days later, where I instantly began customizing.

First, let me start listing the great things about the phone:
PROS:

- Vibrant & Large color display inside and outer
- Very user-friendly, great UI
- Customizable to the MAXIMUM. First time I'd ever had a phone where I could put a background pic on a MENU!
- Great camera, quality pics for me at 85 mph +
- Good battery life, good talk-time
- Great reception
- Speaker clarity on the ear piece, speaker phone just OK (see speaker phone CON)
- Great video recording, nice sound & picture!
- Take pics while phone is closed
- Too many more to list, just a great phone for the money! I paid $65 with the rebates!

CONS:

- Speaker phone not very clear at max volume, make sure you turn the volume slightly down on the speaker phone to hear.
- Flash a little weak, doesn't make much difference
- No ring + vibe option

Bottom Line; GREAT PHONE, 2 THUMBS UP! Get it, I PROMISE you won't be dissappointed. It's very cheap for the phone, and much better than some of the main competitors.

PS - LJ is Cool :)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

niveknat submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone really is a machine. I don't have to reiterate the amazing TFT LCD screen inside and the excellent RF holds on to calls well. I did a ton of research before getting this phone, as I switched from Cingular to Verizon. I also considered the VX7000, VX6100, and the Samsung A670. I heard the VX8000 was coming out in 2005, but I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for a megapixel camera that I would hardly use. All in all, it has a very effective speakerphone, call functionality, display, and enough gadgetry to keep your fingers busy but also get you far technologically with the up and coming phones of 2005.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

VOLVOT5 submitted this review of the Audiovox CDM-9900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone is definitely one of Verizon's better releases. The screen is absolutely fabulous, it's big and bright and can show a lot of information; and your pictures look fantastic on it. The camera on this phone is also very good. In fact, it takes way better pics than the 1.3 megapix unit on the Motorola V710. It could be Verizon's best camera phone.

RF performance is also excellent. It can lock on and hold a signal better than most phones. Just remember that the 9900's signal meter is way more honest than most. Even if you have one or no bars showing, the phone can still make and receive clear calls. Speaking of calls, call quality is fantastic. Most calls sound crystal clear and true to the tonal qualities of the person talking. Outgoing call quality is just as good with most people saying I sound just like voice sounds.

The speaker phone is definitely serviceable. I wont say it's great but it's ok. People's voices can get tinny at the higher volume levels but you can still here what they are saying. It's also interesting to note that most people can't tell I'm talking on the speaker phone. They say that they can't notice a big difference whether I'm using it or not. Now that's saying sometime about the outgoing call quality of the speaker phone.

The menu system is also pretty good on the phone. They are generally logically laid out and everything is easy enough to access. The phone book is also very good with each entry capable of holding multiple phone numbers, email addresses, etc.

I can go on and on about this phone but it's Christmas and it's time to get back to the family. Just get it if you can still find it available. Sometimes it still pops up as available on Verizon's website depending on what zipcode you live in.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
