none--all US. welcome to the year 2004.
Re: Cingular coverage Quality in Metro Detroit
It's excellent. I live in Garden City and sell Cingular services in Canton. Everything works great for me. The only problems I hear of are around Ford's headquarters in Dearborn. Let me know if you have a specific area you're wondering about.

Re: Cingular Pride
:D All of the above, dude.
Cingular Pride
I have to say that I'm proud to be a Cingular agent. All these guys on here run Cingular down and talk about how great Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and whoever else is.
But think about it: Cingular has converted to GSM in a brief period of time and is now acquiring its next biggest GSM rival. Say what you want, but no other company is as aggressively moving forward on a nationwide scale.
And what ...
What's the latest???
Does anyone have any inside info on the AT&T sale/merger/whatever-you-wanna-call-it ???
What will the impact be if the SBC crowd acquires ATTW? Is this good for the American GSM arena?

Re: New Coverage Map
That nationwide M2M is on and off network and depends on caller ID for billing purposes. When you size it up, it's a bigger nationwide M2m area than any other carrier, including the V word.
Where else can you get one map for voice, data, m2m, etc? It's a one size fits all plan with huge potential.
Re: motomixer
None of us can get ours to work either.
Our are Motorola rep was at our meeting this morning and he cited 3 problems with the v400:
Motomixer
Battery life
Display freeze-ups
Other than that it's an awesome phone. My battery is so so, and my motomixer is not functional, but who cares?
Re: Siemens A56i
I know it's going to have speakerphone, but I didn't know there was any PTT feature included. That's a surprise considering that phone has been so weak in terms of performance.
Moobak's Vendetta
This guy hates Cingular. They must be doing something right. My store is on pace to double last year's December numbers. Cingular is #2 and is not in any danger of going lower. Once they buy T-Mobile or ATTW it'll be a done deal and Cingular will be on top. Stop denying the inevitable.

Re: Merger?
Yeah, you're right. That was caused by WLNP. And obviously ATTW screwed that one up too as we all know.
ps
Why would you need to interupt service to upgrade WLNP software?

Re: LG and cingular
Are you serious? We've had more problems with Samsung than LG. The LG 4050 has been good to my store. All of our customers who have purchased them love them. So I can't agree with you there.

Re: Motorola V400
You can win more than one if your wife works for the same cingular agent. Hey, if you want, just register your dog or something. Adios.

Motorola V400
Anyone signed up for the sales promo from Motorola to win a V400? I've already won one and I'm working on a second. It's going to be sweet!
Re: Collage Student Discount Petiton
Anyone who can't even spell C-O-L-L-E-G-E correctly doesn't deserve a discount. Ha ha.
tz
Re: Merger?
Not to worry, AT&T would become Cingular, not the other way around.
BTW...
Today in Michigan and Ohio Cingular brought back the 1000 anytime rollover minutes for $39.99/month.
Re: Attn: ATTWS Employees, MUST READ!
I looked into my facts just like you told me to. If Cingular doesn't plan to buy out anyone, then why did Cingular's CEO say, "If there is going to be consolidation, then I expect to participate -- and not as a seller." If he's not going to be a "seller," wouldn't that make him a "buyer"? And wouldn't being a buyer mean you buy something?
SBC and Bellsouth have the ability to fund the purchase outright. ...
Re: Attn: ATTWS Employees, MUST READ!
Good--maybe it won't be as expensive for Cingular to buy them out then.

Re: verizon & gsm?
What kills me are all these CDMA guys who bash Cingular and its GSM system, then Verizon starts offering a phone with CDMA for the U.S. and GSM for world roaming. That means Verizon admits to the global force of GSM. If they are so cutting edge, why are they offering a phone with "inferior" GSM capabilities. I don't think Verizon is as advanced as they think they are.

VX-6000 coverage
I understand that the VX 6000 does not use analog. How does that affect nationwide coverage? Obviously there are places where one would rely on the analog system. Anyone have a map???

Cingular Merger
I TOLD YA SO. I brought it up and look what pops into the headlines. All you guys said it wasn't going to happen, but Cingular will buy out either ATTW or T-Mobile. So all you CDMA fans better look out because Cingular will be #1.

Re: 850 downfall
I have to agree with you on the Microsoft/Motorola issue. Where's the love for the US?
tz
Re: 850 downfall
PS
Cingular launched EDGE already, including the world's first EDGE phone, before any other US carrier. No one's trying harder than Cingular.
Re: 850 downfall
So is everyone saying that Cingular's phones are no good? Granted, the 5165 days weren't cutting edge and a lot of the new "free phones" are sub-par, but they're making strides. I use the Nokia 6200 and I love it. And Cingular's pushing ahead--they're the first GSM carrier to put out the Treo 600, so they can't be THAT far behind the times.
Maybe I'm biased because I sell their products. I just don't ...
Re: Nokia 6200
Yeah, they do. There are two others on Nokia's website. Check it out sometime.
Re: Southern Michigan (not southern California)
I know where Cingular's spectrum is, but I didn't think that coverage from ATTW was available yet. It's still marked as future coverage.
Are an agent in Detroit?
tz
Re: Southern Michigan (not southern California)
I know that, I live and sell Cingular in the Detroit market. I'm talking about the rest of southern MI. Places like Kalamazoo along the I-94 corridor.
Re: AT&T, Cingular, T-Mobile merger
Do they still activate phones?
Southern Michigan (not southern California)
:D
Does anyone know when Cingular's southern MI GSM coverage is going to be turned on? I know it will be before the new year, but does anyone have an insider tip on a specific date?

Re: Cingular vs Verizon & ATT in So. Cal
I've never used my GSM in So California, but it looks like Cingular has good coverage there.
Cingular received poor customer service ratings a while back, so they recently hired literally a couple thousand reps to bring hold times down.
Re: AT&T, Cingular, T-Mobile merger
Is AT&T Wireless stil selling mobile phones? You sure don't hear much from them these days.
Re: Nokia 6200
I'm in the Detroit market. It's a great phone. I sell Cingular products and my phone blows away the fancy flip phonse like the T720 and S307 that my co-workers use.
If you get it though, you have to get either the camera headset or the speaker stand. They're both awesome little additions. And of course, this is the world's first EDGE phone!
I definitely recommend it.
Re: AT&T, Cingular, T-Mobile merger
Those are excellent points. We'll have to wait and see how it all pans out.
Re: AT&T, Cingular, T-Mobile merger
Hey, you're right. I forgot about that.
Re: Will Cingular ever have free nights and weekends??
The VAST majority of Cingular customers don't get anywhere near the 5000 minute limit. That's 83 and a third hours.
If you're going to complain about it, you better not be on a $29.99/month plan.
tz
VX 6000
Can someone tell me what this phone is going for on a new contract???
Re: Is GAIT being used much?
At my (Cingular) store, GAIT is about 5% and GSM 95% of total activations.
Of course, it depends where you are. In Dallas/Ft. Worth GAIT would have been much higher of a percentage in anticipation of Cingular turning on their GSM.

Re: AT&T, Cingular, T-Mobile merger
Yeah, I heard about the Bellsouth buying AT&T thing Friday. We'll see what happens. That proves even further that AT&T is in no position to buy Nextel.
tz
Re: Cingular and GSM
That's crazy. Cingular does crazy things like that sometimes. For instance, if I live in Detroit and I have a GSM phone that works on 850/1900 and I go west on I-94, the phone will say no service. But I know for a fact that if someone with the exact same phone(850/1900) comes here from NYC, their phone will work. It's got something to do with your home id codes. You would think it ...
Re: Cingular and GSM
:P Yeah, whoever told you that a GSM 850 phone will work on 900 is crazy. Besides, he's right. The only 900MHz coverage is in Washington D.C.
