Nextel Begins Offering GSM World Phones
May 2, 2002, 11:30 AM by (staff)
Nextel yesterday began offering two GSM world phones through direct sales channels. The company, which uses the iDEN standard for its own network, has offered a dual-technology iDEN/GSM phone for some time. The new phones will not work on Nextel's national network, but do work with the SIM cards found in Nextel's iDEN phones. The phones, the Motorola v60g and P280, are available as an add-on for existing accounts, and are targeted at international business travelers.
