Liquidmetal Technologies today announced that its Liquidmetal alloy is featured in a new line of stronger, thinner cellular phones to be launched by Samsung. The two companies have produced a super-thin LCD screen frame component for Samsung's first such phone, the SCH-X199 for the Chinese market. Liquidmetal alloys are two to three times stronger than commonly used titanium alloys, harder than tool steel, and relatively non-corrosive and wear resistant. The alloys can also be molded into precision net-shaped parts similar to plastics.
