Proposed Bill Puts Auction Money Toward Spectrum Relocation

Represensatives Fred Upton, R-Mich., and Billy Tauzin, R-La. this week introduced a bill that would earmark certain funds from FCC spectrum auctions for reimbursing government users for spectrum relocation costs. The relocation is necessary to free spectrum for new 3G wireless services. Auction funds currently are placed in the government's general fund, and aren't specifically tracked in the budget. The bill is titled the Commercial Spectrum Enhancement Act.
