Monet Launches First Commercial 1xEV-DO Network In U.S.

Monet Mobile Networks today announced the commercial launch of Monet Broadband, North America's first CDMA2000 1xEV-DO wireless data service, in Duluth, MN. LG Electronics is providing the network infrastructure equipment and support, while GTRAN is supplying Wireless PC modem cards for customers. Monet will upgrade its existing networks in other cities to 1xEV-DO in November. Verizon Wireless is currently testing 1xEV-DO technology in San Diego and Washington, D.C. 1xEV-DO provides peak data speeds of 2.4 Mbps, with average user speeds around 300-600 Kbps.
