Fastmobile last week announced that it will launch its fastchat™ service in the U.S. on May 1st. fastchat provides push-to-talk instant voice communications to off-the-shelf mobile phones by simply downloading an application to the handset - carrier support is not required. The service will initially be available on Symbian-based GSM/GPRS phones such as the Nokia 3650 and Sony Ericsson P800. In the 2nd half of 2003, the service will be extended to CDMA networks, and Java and BREW handsets.
