Verizon Drops Price of Family Locator Service

Verizon Wireless today said that it has dropped the price of its Family Locator service to a flat fee of $9.99 per month. Previously, the service had a base fee, plus a per-handset fee. Now, $9.99 covers all the phones on a family plan.

equivalent free apps on the market

Great thing about family locator is, smartphone not required. However, if everyone in the family is already paying for data, does anyone know of a similar service on Android market without the monthly fee? The ones I've tried just haven't been up to par for functionality. We use latitude, but that requires check-ins. I just want my family members to see me on a map whenever they want to, and vice versa, without any action required on the part of the located individual. Despite the attractive new price point for VZW family locator, that won't work for me as several family members have wifi only tablets. If it works between Android and iOS, that would be great for other families worth a mix of smartphones and iPod Touches. Surely someone out t...

Check out the Life 360 Family Locator in the Market. I think that's what I used before. Not sure.
