Openwave Mobility and Messaging Reboot Under New Owner

Marlin Equity Partners today announced that it has finalized its acquisition of Openwave's messaging and data service businesses and is relaunching them as separate companies, Openwave Mobility and Openwave Messaging. John Giere, formerly Openwave's senior vice president and general manager, has been appointed Openwave Mobility's CEO; and Sam MacNeill, formerly senior vice president and general manager for the messaging business unit, has been appointed Openwave Messaging's CEO. Openwave Mobility will continue to offer its video optimization and dynamic data plan management products to wireless network operators, and Openwave Messaging will do the same with its cloud and social integration capabilities.
