The FCC today approved the LG F9100, a new GSM phone with a focus on IM (instant messaging) and text messaging. The phone features a unique QWERTY text keyboard that slides out from the side of the phone. Photos available on the FCC web site show the device with Cingular branding. Other key features of the F9100 include an internal antenna, world roaming, and a color display. The F9100 is expected to compete with the Motorola A630, although the F9100 lacks a camera and Bluetooth.
