TIA Asks FCC to Reject 700MHz Interoperability

The Telecommunications Industry Association today filed a petition with the Federal Communications Commission asking it not to mandate interoperability between 700MHz devices. The TIA believes such a mandate could lead to technical and interference problems, delay the availability of 700MHz wireless devices, and violate the Commission's policy of technology neutrality. A number of smaller wireless network operators in the U.S. have asked the FCC to implement such a mandate to make it easier for them to forge roaming agreements with the two largest holders of 700MHz spectrum, AT&T and Verizon Wireless.
