Apple Moves to Block Samsung Galaxy S III

Apple has filed a petition with the U.S. International Trade Commission to prevent Samsung's Galaxy S III from entering the country. Apple believes the device violates its intellectual property. Samsung vowed to fight Apple's newest salvo in the smartphone patent wars and said in a statement that it will "demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S III is innovative and distinctive." Apple wants to block the device before it goes on sale, but Samsung believes the device will launch on schedule. It can already be pre-ordered from several U.S. carriers and is expected to reach store shelves in the coming weeks.

Someone with power needs to...

Somebody with the power to do so needs to call BS on this whole lawsuit thing, and send all the smartphone companies and their lawsuits packing. Enough already!

I wonder if this

lawsuit and import ban push by Apple is related to the statements the carriers have been making lately about wanting to curtail the high subsidies on smartphones. Apple's plan might just be to eleminate all the other smartphones on the market, so the carriers have no choice but to pay whatever price Apple demands. Or be left with no smartphones to sell.

It's not greed, honestly. It's fear. Fact of the matter is, the iPhone 4 and 4S have shortcomings, especially against new high end Android devices. Apple is so afraid of actually competing in the market that they decide to try to block in the court...
