Jun 27, 2012, 1:42 PM: Um, the crowd is pretty darned excited.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:42 PM: And also the Nexus Q. HUGE APPLAUSE.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:42 PM: One more thing?
Jun 27, 2012, 1:41 PM: Latest OTA Jelly Bean preview version on both.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:41 PM: Talking about the Android Developer Pack: Galaxy Nexus phone (big cheers). Nexus 7 tablet. (Even bigger cheers).

Jun 27, 2012, 1:40 PM: They want to see how many people contribute at the party.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:40 PM: Kicking off Google+ Events with the After Hours party tonight. Should be a pretty epic Event with 80 gazillion photos.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:39 PM: Basically, Google wants people to share stuff, and that's what I/O is about.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:38 PM: Very airy, pleasant music. Sounds like Feist, but not sure.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:38 PM: Playing a video now that ties together all the new things announced, focusing on Google+.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:37 PM: Some final announcements.

Jun 27, 2012, 1:34 PM: Sergey Brin is speaking again. He appears to be very serious about Google Glasses. He says his own experiences over the last few months have convinced him that it's a neat project.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:32 PM: Showing how Google Glasses can be used in a Google+ Hangout to share real-time video of life moments.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:32 PM: And of course they are showing a demo video of a baby, cause that pulls at everyone's heart strings. Cute.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:28 PM: The Google Glass team has been field-testing the product for months. They think it's really cool. Not sure how practical it will be, but it sure looks like a neat concept.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:23 PM: Created an asymmetrical design, but one that is balanced.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:23 PM: Did everything they could to reduce the weight, etc.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:21 PM: Google hopes that it will become a better way for people to share things in a more natural and less intrusive way. Has to be light, out of the way, not overpowering, etc.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:20 PM: Amazing how small it us for what it can do. Glass to interact with the virtual works w/o distracting people from the real word. Close to your senses, but not blocking them.
Jun 27, 2012, 1:19 PM: Now that the jumpers have made it into the building and received a standing ovation, the are talking about Google Glass and how it works to record video and audio as well as receive video and audio. Jun 27, 2012, 1:11 PM: I think he's going to transmit is jump live via the google Glass thing. WOW, live video feed of skydivers via Google Glasses and Google+ Hangouts.

Jun 27, 2012, 1:01 PM: Google is giving us a run-down of all the special features in the Event page, which combines a lot of other pieces of Google's services, such as Calendar, Google+, Gmail, etc., to bring it all together.

The Nexus Q
It costs 3x as much as an AppleTV. It cannot be used on its own. Lacks Airplay-esque output, which means you can *only* use it with Google Play and YouTube.
No Netflix or Amazon support, let alone Hulu+ Support.
No Rdio or Spotify support.
No mirroring.
It has a volume adjuster and audio amplifier, but no headphone output, so I'm not going to use it on my desk and lounge as a wireless receiver for my tablet when I want to listen to music (I have a 'chill out' pair of audiophile headphones, and of course, attaching them directly to a tablet is a PITA with the cord.)

It costs what it does because it's made entirely in the USA. I think that - and it's sex appeal - are its only real selling points.
