Beats Electronics has acquired the online music subscription service MOG. HTC heavily invested in Beats in 2011 and the company makes 'Beats By Dr. Dre' headphones as well as music software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Beats said that MOG's commitment to quality music was what sold it on the subscription service. MOG offers ad-supported streamed music online (similar to Slacker and Pandora) for free, but charges $4.99 for ad-free music. In order to stream music to portable devices, such as smartphones, MOG charges $9.99 per month. Beats offers a library of more than 16 million songs. "Time will tell exactly how we integrate our products and services," said MOG founder and CEO David Hyman to USA Today. "MOG and Beats have a shared vision of providing a premium sound experience to listeners and increasing the emotional connection they have with music so building on the solid foundation we've created, the possibilities around future innovation are endless."
